08:57 AM ET 07.30 | A solid outing by Ivan Nova could force the Yankees to re-insert him into the rotation for a struggling Phil Hughes, who is 1-2 in four starts since coming off the disabled list. In 21 1/3 innings, he has allowed 28 hits, nine walks and has a 5.49 ERA.

Mark Prior still in the Yankees' farm system?

Ubaldo's velocity is down and he has not been the same pitcher he was prior to the All-Star break last year. Best move the Yankees can make is to deal for Kuroda. Excellent ERA and WHIP and a proven winner. They would not have to give up nearly as much to get him, and he would make a nice addition to the rotation.

Kuroda? Really?

If the Yankees get some legitimate MLB pitching then I'm worried as a BoSox fan. Somehow, the guys from the Bronx have hung around all season with one lights-out starter and the rest of the rotation being guess work.
It will kill them in the playoffs unless they get another stud pitcher.

True, except that Ubaldo's velocity is back up the past two months & his stats show it. I know it's hard to keep up with games not on the eastern time zone, but baseball-reference.com is a great resource to use before opening your pie hole.

Kuroda would generously be a #3. I'm thinking more a #4 or #5. A career ERA+ of 111, leaves him as a slightly above average pitcher. To throw in Eastern Div bandboxes, you need a little more than that to be successful

True, the chewing gum and bailing wire they are using has worked way beyond expectations. However, we all know that it won't last an entire season & will be especially unlikely to get the Yankees through the playoffs. The matchups against playoff team rotations are just not there.

The Rockies want the farm for Ubaldo and Cashman would be a fool to make that trade- Montero, Banuelos, Betances AND Nova or even three of those...that's just dumb.

Risky, yes. Dumb, I'm not so sure. Ubaldo could be that #2 they need, but it's not a sure thing and never is. Remember when CC came in and everyone was saying he's too fat, he's pitched too many innings, and he'll wear out. Then they signed an up and down Burnett and thought he'd translate to a #2, when his history showed nothing but inconsistency. So, Ubaldo's not a CC..... he could be a Burnett..... but he could also be what Burnett was supposed to be. Want to roll the dice??

He may be the best available. Who would you want instead considering the market availability?
