11:30 AM ET 08.01 | Carl Edwards isn't talking about his upcoming contract situation, but someone is. The latest scuttlebutt has Edwards driving the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2012 for a staggering amount of money -- $8 million as a base, plus a $10 million signing bonus. When Kyle Busch was asked about Edwards' possible move to Joe Gibbs Racing, he replied with a chuckle, "Eighteen million? He's making a lot of money then."

Like comment #3 says......who says Carl will be second fiddle?......he will be first fiddle, tied with Kyle.....these two can race it out to see who will actually become the only first fiddle....my voe is on Carl......if he does officially move over........which I am still praying that he doesn't.....there is still hope isn't there?
Denny is the second fiddle with Joey having potential down the road to surpass Dummy....oops I meant Denny LOL

Come on Carl..........surprise us all and stay with Ford & Jack.

Don't care where Cousin Carl goes actually. $8mil BASE..that per year or for the length of the contract? Seems ridiculously high if you ask me. CC would have to win a ton of races to pay that back to the team thru purses. I don't see it.

dont dale jr & gordon make something like 15-20 mil a year base (not sure tbh)?

either way the race teams are paid for with the 20 mil a year sponsorship money

So if Carl drives the 20 what does Logano drive? Did I miss something about him?

August 1, 2011  07:14 PM ET

Jr made $4.9 million from racing (no wins) but $24.1 from promos etc = total $29million

JJ made $13.4million from racing but only $10.6 million from promos etc = total $24 million

Does anyone know how Kyle and Denny did? Wondering how they feel about this big deal with Carl (if true).

August 1, 2011  07:17 PM ET

Rickapolis......strong rumour that Joey will become the 4th Gibbs car with a new sponsor(s), yet to be confirmed......FORD is also upping the ante to keep Carl at Roush's.......and all this is rumour at this point......has not yet been formally announced/confirmed (to the best of my knowledge).

The rumor I heard was the Napa #56 was going to Gibbs from MWR and Logano was to drive that.

How about the job Joey did saving his car at 150 MPH when Jooonya got into the back of him. That was a nice high speed controlled drift.

August 1, 2011  11:15 PM ET

Jk...NAPA is contracted to MWR's #56 until the end of 2012 and they have stated that they will honour that contract.....can't see NAPA taking on an additional sponsorship with Joey.

A little financial aid from Toyota to Mikey and all is well. LOL

Ford, Ortho, Scott's and AFLAC will not let Carl leave Jack with out a fight. Carl can NOT comment right now about his future plans. If he even hints that he is leaving he can kiss any chance of making the championship good bye. Jack will not supply him with top notch equipment.

August 2, 2011  06:30 AM ET

Go Carl. Please!
