Yankees sending Hughes to the bullpen?

08:15 AM ET 08.02 | Yes, Phil Hughes is scheduled to start Tuesday in Chicago. The question is, will that be his final start of 2011? Nothing has been decided, according to Joe Girardi, but listening to him speak about the situation with Hughes and Ivan Nova, it sure sounds like the manager is leaning on returning Hughes to the bullpen and inserting Nova into the rotation. The Yankees will give Nova a start on Thursday, pushing Bartolo Colon back one day and Freddy Garcia back two days for this weekend's big series at Fenway Park. The six-man rotation isn't expected to last beyond this week, however, as Girardi said he and pitching coach Larry Rothschild would figure out how to proceed after Monday's off day. Assuming Hughes pitches the way he has of late and Nova continues to pitch well, it would be a surprise to see Nova taken out of the rotation.
