08:04 AM ET 08.02 | Marvin Lewis isn't alone in his praise for No. 1 pick A.J. Green, and he managed to sting former wide receivers with his raving. [Green] catches everything, no one's covered him, and when he is, he jumps up and takes it away. "He showed his physical prowess out there [Monday]," said Lewis with a shake of his head at his own news conference. Even though the Bengals had a pair of 10,000 yard receivers last year in Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens, Lewis offered, "He's an upgrade ... we're improved athletically." The 6-4 Green, who turned 23 Sunday, launched himself over safety Chris Crocker to make one of those "wow" catches where you can hear him snap the ball like some amphibian at the top of his jump.

That's it, Marv... enjoy the positivity.

The negativity is fast approaching.

He should take shots at his front office or himself first.

OK, for all of you out there who don't appreciate amphibians, the analogy is meant to say that green snaps up the ball like, say, a frog snaps up a flying insect in mid-flight with its tongue - almost faster than the eye can see. And that is our biology lesson for the day.

Is that the t-bagOcho Deal?

August 2, 2011  08:16 AM ET

Sour grapes, Marv. You've got a tiger-striped amphibian, eh? A leaping lizard who can catch the football on the tip of his outstretched tongue.

And your quarterbacks are such a joke that the Blue Collar Comedy guys are jealous.

Hard to blame the guy for the subdued euphoria of not having to deal with what was known as the brown stain on the mattress of the football world anymore.

Here's the problem...

He is the coach of the brown stain on the mattress of the football world.

Hard to see the forest for the trees.

Whatever... Lewis is lucky he has a job. He should be getting ready for his farewell tour as Bengals HC.

Which begs the question if he might soon be the brown stain on the mattress of the coaching world.

My apologies to all for turning this thread more vile and disgusting than usual.

exactly

August 2, 2011  08:29 AM ET

when AJ Green has 10k yards and pushing 100 TD's, then Marvin can talk smack, until then I see a 4-12 season on the horizon

Or worse. Another team vying for the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes.

No apologies necessary,we are talking about the Bengals, it's very hard to avoid such comparisons

August 2, 2011  08:46 AM ET

When a coach talks about former players instead of moving on an coaching...... well that sums it up right there.

It's a Bengals thread. What do expect but vile and disgusting? Besides, the Asomugha picture puts us all the mood for intestinal distress.

Excuse me. Back in 5.

August 2, 2011  08:53 AM ET

Yeah - it was all Chad's fault, Marv...now you're "over the hump".

As bad as I feel for for Bengals fans, the "brass" makes it really easy to hate this team.

Chris Crocker? Isn't he the dude/dudette that said, "Leave Brittany alone!"
