08:23 AM ET 08.02 | Along with Erik Johnson, Cody McLeod, Luke Walker and Ryan Stoa, one more key to the Avs' future hit the ice. Avalanche left wing Peter Mueller, who missed last season with a concussion, was one of five players who took advantage of open ice time Monday at the Family Sports Center in Englewood. Mueller, who has not played since April 4, 2010, after suffering the first of two serious concussions, was not made available for comment, but the Avs say he is expected to be ready for training camp next month.

When you see the word 'concussion' associated with any athlete, the same rule always apply: Take it easy, son. No point rushing back if you still have symptoms. If not then go for it.

He hasn't played since April 4, 2010 when he suffered the first of two serious concussions.

Did he get another concussion playing with the kids or something?

Glad to see him getting back. He did do well for us earlier, hope his return pays dividends. Some players aren't the same after having their noggin corn dogged. I meant whacked... Thanks, Harry. Now I can't get that image out of my head.

The Avs have a lot of good young pieces in place...

If Varlamov pans out, they could make some noise...
