11:57 AM ET 08.02 | Is Danica Patrick headed for a full-time NASCAR schedule? [The 29-year-old] is finalizing a deal to run a full Nationwide Series schedule for JR Motorsports and a partial Cup schedule with Stewart-Haas Racing next season, according to The Associated Press. JR Motorsports spokesman Mike Davis and Patrick agent Mark Dyer both declined to comment on the report.

not really, she was running well before the switch back to indy cars for the summer

really ????

August 2, 2011  12:55 PM ET

And that right there is why my interest in NASCAR has gone downhill over the last 10 years. Yet another driver, who hasn't done much of anything, is fast-tracked into the Cup series.

Kasey Kahne ... YAWN!
Casey Mears ... YAWN!
Paul Menard ... YAWN!
Danica Partick .... YAWN!

She's been scoring top 10's and finishing races. Heck she led several laps at Daytona and arguably had a chance to win. Heck she wrecked on the final lap of that race and still finished like 9th. And I have been saying that race sealed the deal for her to come to NASCAR.

lol I have to second that, Really? I know bc of money and junk, but its rediculous that this girl, lady, whatever, is gonna be taking a seat that SOOO many are more deserving. She would get lapped every race in cup imo

so being pushed by a car, for one race, sealed the deal to move to cup?

Kahne - Drive very well with a STABLE team. Last few years his race teams were running more on a week to week basis. His finishes this year show worse then he's actually done.

Mears - Yeah I'll give that one to you.

Menard - Improved his equipment with each move. Ran well in underfunded equipment last year, and very well in good equipment. Won at Indy.

Patrick - Too soon to tell, but shows more promise in NW then many of the other open wheel converts have shown. She gets the benefit of the doubt for now.

Ive been saying that 7 car by jr motorsports is a HOT rod. Its bad fast, didnt kahne run good in it? I think it was kahne, but anyways, a 15th 20th place finish from danica in it, means someone else prob woulda got a top 10 or 5.

She was more competitive for that race then she has been all year in Indy. Yes it is a plate track, but the confidence at leading laps and having fun in the car can lead a long way.

August 2, 2011  01:18 PM ET

hi haters! yes, really.

August 2, 2011  01:26 PM ET

I got pushed to the lead at Daytona, now I go to Disney World and then Nationwide and Cup. Yippee

You obviously are missing the complete picture.

Drivers must be more than good drivers, they must meet all the rest of the criteria:

Look attractive (fit) to the TV camara's
Speak no more than 10 words without mentioning the sponsor, EVER!
etc. etc.

A MAJOR part of the Rouch Racings 'gong show' is to teach prospective drivers how to celebrate when they win and talk up the sponsor.
That is why a guy like Gomer Pyle (edwards) is so coveted by sponsors because the ladies like him and a guy like Danny O'Quinn gets shafted and drives start and parks when he is lucky enough to get work.

AND if your daddy is the sponsor that does not hurt either, eventually you win one like Sunday.

She's shown more improvement running a partial NW schedule then Sam Hornish, Dario Franchitti, Joey Lagano, Scott Speen, or Casey Mears etc have in a season's worth full time Cup rides. Many of those drivers have had had multiple season in Cup.

and what has he done for you lately?

I'm not expecting her to win a championship right out of the gate, but she has adjusted to a NASCAR car faster then many of her open wheel counterparts. This while still running open wheel full time.
