08:02 AM ET 08.03 | There appears to be a mile-wide disconnect in Denver. Most fans of the Broncos want former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow to be the team's starting quarterback. No matter how well Tebow practices and plays. No matter who else the Broncos have at his position. No matter how well the Broncos fare on the field. No. Matter. What. A lot of fans want the media to stop talking and writing about Tebow. Caught in the middle of all this are the Broncos, a team trying to rebuild from last year's 4-12 season with a new coaching staff and a lot of new faces on the roster. ... Tebow hasn't been the Broncos' best quarterback at training camp. He's behind veteran Kyle Orton, and the gap isn't small.

But...but...but...Tebow is showing you he is number one. Wrong finger dude.

A man from South Beach came a' courtin'
Saying, "We'd sure like your boy Orton."
When told of the price
He said, "Too much by twice,
But I'd like some of what you've been snortin'."

Thanks DD, I needed to laugh this early...

They want to trade Orton. If they bench him and name Tebow the starter, Orton's value drops. Regardless if Kyle starts the season, Denver is committed to Tebow now. After reading how the Miami fans reacted to their QBs yesterday, I would think a deal will happen by week 1. Denver wasn't thinking they were SB bound this season anyway. It is time to build on the new guy.

And this is "news"?

If a deal is being contemplated they better get it done pretty quickly, otherwise if they wait till the season is about to start everyone will be on the same page except the qb and good things never happen in that scenario. But it is the Dolphins, so, business as usual.

If the FN interns don't replace that stupid photo of Tebow, I think we (the forum contributors) should hunt down the interns and kill them. Slowly.

I don't think they want to trade Orton at all. But, they set the price really high, and they're seeing of someone is actually stupid enough to bite. They need Orton for another year at least, unless they're planning on buying their ticket for the Andrew Luck Lottery.

Speaking of a fool and his money, Dan Snyder needs to sign a quarterback, right?

August 3, 2011  08:34 AM ET

No chance Tebow will be the No.1 QB this year for the Broncos.

The only number 1 anything the Broncos may have this year is a draft pick.

This situation is unique because most backup, rookie QBs can't sell tickets. Tebow sells.

I hate to say it, but Orton or Tebow would be an upgrade in Washington.

Via seance with my dear departed mother (a Bronco fan thru and thru)--I don't trust a player that puts bible verses on his eyeblack. I want a cigar-smokin', beer-guzzlin', "My nose ain't broke, it's just bent," smash-mouth quarterback like Big Ben!

August 3, 2011  08:58 AM ET

Tebow may not even bee on the roster opening week.

Yeah, but they'd never release Obama and Boehner.

Trade Orton for what?? Bronco's have this discord that they brought on themselves. What the fffk has Orton don to make him NOT the starter? What has Tebow done that makes him worthy of being the starter? Let the guy learn the system and be a freakin back-up until his time comes.

Yeah, those silly lobbyists wrote too much guaranteed money into those contracts. Now they're both too big to fail.

Orton may win the starting job. Not making a pick either way. That said....it's the first week of friggin' August. How about we let them get through training camp first before we get rambling articles about who's out performing who. This is practice after all. My grandma can look good in practice when no defenders are allowed to touch her...

August 3, 2011  09:15 AM ET

The article shouldn't say, "No matter how well Tebow practices and plays."

It should say the fans want him to play, "No matter how poorly Tebow practices and plays."
