08:10 AM ET 08.03 | Globetrotting has given way to getting back to work for Dwight Howard. [Howard] spent last week in Houston working with Hakeem Olajuwon, continuing to build on the principles Olajuwon taught Howard during a three-day training session last summer. Last week, Howard went to Olajuwon's house every morning to work out at Olajuwon's private court for several hours. [They] talked about Howard keeping a scorer's mentality and ways for Howard to improve his free-throw shooting. Olajuwon feels Howard can be an even better offensive player with a little more freedom and confidence in his offensive moves. "He just said I want you to do them in the game, and tell your coach you got a lot of skills and he needs to let you use all your skills," Howard said Tuesday.

25 years old, yet to enter prime, very rare though do you see someone with freakish athleticism develop great foot work. Dwight is a blend of prime Shawn Kemp and Shaq, would he be able to add the dream shake to that arsenal? I guess time will tell.

It's nice to see Howard working on his O. And there's no better teacher than Dream.

Dwight is great but on talent alone. Maybe once he develops a game that doesn't revolve around his great physical ability we may talk about him as one of the greatest. As great as Shaq was, I've always wondered how much better he could have been if he had the determination and heart of Magic, Bird or MJ.

Good for Howard working on his skills.
He's gone from Orlando. Not really a matter of IF but when. I would say by February deadline if we have indeed a season.
Orlando had their chance and they screwed. Howard will not hang out in the hopes their management will built a contender team around him.

i just hope his teaching will allow howard to keep the ball above his head as opposed to allowing himself to be tied up by guards my size and then having to prove to everyone all over again how terrible he is at free throw shooting. matter of fact did dream teach him to shoot free throws? dream shot a pretty damn good %. howard is just too easy to gameplan for in close games. foul him before he gets the shot off....... you win. he pretty much handed the lakers a title

Dwight Howard is a monster, and he is about to become a free agent next summer. And the Magic don't have good chances of landing the superstar because he doesn't want Orlando and has his movie contract in Hollywood and has been looking at houses. If there is not a lockout, the Magic should use every ounce in him this season and completely waste him so they can savor his final days and hopefully with some other players on that team, make a playoff run. He's a great player and they need to use him more because he could be spending his final days in Orlando and some teams needing help could ask the Magic for trades at the deadline this year so the Magic can get something in return for him so they won't lose him like they did Shaquille O'Neal in 1996. Hopefully, he will go West Coast and the Magic can receive talent for him to rebuild their team.
