08:10 AM ET 08.05 | Kobe Bryant and Deron Williams have shared headlines recently, but will they share a ball? The possibility that [Bryant] plays alongside [Williams] for Turkish team Besiktas remains up for discussion after an official offer was reportedly made to Bryant's agent, Rob Pelinka. Bryant wasn't personally present, which might be viewed as a less-than-eager position from him, but a Thursday meeting with Pelinka in Los Angeles went well, Besiktas sources told Ismail Senol of NBA TV in Turkey. Another meeting was expected Friday. Senol also noted that the Turkish League starts in October compared to the Chinese Basketball Association, which is considering not allowing teams to sign NBA players who might leave China as soon as the NBA lockout ends.

Think about it, where in the world is a safe place? He's a pro and he plays for a living. He's not dumb as you think he is.

QUOTE(#21):

That's fine if he gets hurt anywhere but if he gets hurt playing for a Turkey pro bball team then tough luck. You just don't get it. He can get hurt making love or peeing or taking a crap or playing golf but he is covered by his NBA contract. The Lakers cannot void his contract that he makes $30 million a year. Do you get the idea why he is taking his chances of playing overseas now?... I hope he plays for you guys sake but if I was a Laker fan I wouldn't like him playing overseas...

But during a lockout, he's not getting paid his $30M nor is he covered. The NBA cannot lock players out and then prevent them from working elsewhere. Stern knows that he will run into labor/anti-trust issues.
