They need to wrap this guy up long term, like at least 4 years.

He loves being a bird.

I was thinking last night about how many years they may give him...4 sounds about right

Win now pay later seems to be the mantra in Philly. In a few years the Eagles will be the poster child for cap hell.

Do you have a basis for that statement or is that speculation?

Dude always plays on bird teams.

It's the way they structure the salary portion of contracts in the NFL ... a trickle now, a stream in the middle and a flood at the end. Most players are either cut or asked to re-structure before the big payout at the end. If they're cut it's still a cap hit.

That has never been a problem for this front office and doubt it ever will be.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of Joe Banner's personality but the man knows how to work around the salary cap.

And he's been doing it for years and years.

Vick's team.

But who's to say one more long term contract would be the end of his career?

Yeah, he might want to go out in a blaze of glory like Favr....You know who did!

Seems like the prudent thing to do...

It's his team now.

Vick is in the perfect spot right now. Philly has plenty of talent on offense with good young WRs, a solid TE and an O-line with some talent.

And he is also working with a head coach who has helped him elevate his game.

I don't think there is any doubt he'll be an Eagle for the next few seasons.

Atlanta or GreenBay will still smoke these suckers in the playoffs, they will hit Mike Vick very very hard.

Seeing how the Redskins did it and all the kinds of cap hell they got into gives us a hint.
Or the Jets losing a bunch of people this year because of cap nightmares.
