White: Fitch already had his shot

09:11 AM ET 08.06 | Unfortunately for Jon Fitch, who strongly believes that he's the welterweight fighter most deserving of a title shot, UFC president Dana White doesn't seem to keen on pitting him against Georges St.-Pierre again anytime soon. "...He's had his shot at Georges St-Pierre. It's not like he went in and fought Georges St-Pierre and it was a barnburner and some people think he won. Jon Fitch is definitely one of the best in the world in that division, but he's injured, he just drew (with) BJ Penn, so, we'll see."

Dana White makes some pretty stupid comments... if he were to have fought BJ in July and KO'd him in the first minute, Dana White would be, uh, goin' down under on Fitch. He shouldn't be allowed to speak to the media.

August 6, 2011  03:50 PM ET

But apparently he didn't KO Penn in the first round, so if he can't beat someone whom is considered to be no where near the top of the division (Penn) then why should he deserve the opportunity to rule the division?

Dana white is ridiculous..fitch deserves a shot he's only lost to GSP in welterweight division, he's dominated everyone else in division just like GSP has plus he's only guy to take GSP the distance..Dana white needs to just stop protecting/favoring certain fighters and screwing over other top-notch fighters

White is King ****, and Fitch is deserving, but he isn't the only one to take GSP the distance. Shields, Koscheck, Hardy and Alves have all done so, and that is just his last 4 fights.

What White needs to do is legalize the upkick. Kicking a downed opponent in the head from top position should still be illegal, but there should be no such restriction from the bottom opponent. It is EXACTLY this restriction that allows lay n pray fighters to grind out decisions w/out having to worry about the kind of KO kick from the bottom that Anderson Silva gave Okami when he was DQ`d in Japan. Fitch is too boring, but it`s nothing a well placed upkick won`t alleviate.

Do you watch MMA at all? Numerous fighters have taken GSP the distance including Koscheck, Hardy, Shields and Alves.

Madcow9988 & Patriarch, while the guys you did mention all "LASTED" the distance with GSP, none of them dominated him or made it look like they should have won the fight! Dana may not always be fair to all, agreed, but the best Fitch did with his new diet and weight cut is barely eek out a "draw" with BJ. He's not worthy of the next shot!

August 7, 2011  10:19 AM ET

Please. Fitch got jobbed on that decision. He controlled BJ and clearly won that fight. He's the most worthy challenger. Dana doesn't give a crap, though. He would be happy to leapfrog someone like BJ Penn or Tito even if they don't deserve a shot. He should just come out and say that, no matter what Fitch does, or who he beats, he'll never get a shot because Dana doesn't even one to risk having someone with Fitch's style having the possibility of being champ. It shouldn't be about what style Dana likes, though. It should be about whether he beats the other challengers or not, and he has.

August 7, 2011  02:59 PM ET

He still left in in the judges hands and couldn't stop BJ, unlike what GSP did to BJ on their last fight!

August 8, 2011  10:14 AM ET

Good. Nobody wants to see another rematch that we all know what the outcome will be. Good for Dana putting a stop to it. Now, if Dana would only match up the 'unbeatable' guys like GSP and A. Silva, AGAINST EACH OTHER, then he'd be the cats meow.

Wow, GSP beat a natural lightweight. He should be so impressed with himself. GSP wouldn't last four rounds with Silva (the four rounds Penn lasted with the MUCH bigger GSP).

The point he was making was why should Fitch get a shot if he couldn't even beat Penn let alone stop him like GSP did, they were both much bigger fighters than Penn

I was having trouble sleeping the other night... so I tried Ambien and it didn't work. I tried Lunesta and it didn't work. I tried Seroquel and it still didn't work. so I put on a Jon Fitch fight and was asleep by the second round....

"Here is the website we use to get it all from, BidsOut.com"

Actually, I hear they are under investigation from the New York attorney general's office for massive fraud. You'd have to be nuts to buy anything from them.

August 16, 2011  02:32 PM ET

Once GSP finishes off Diaz he needs to seriously consider going up in weight to fight Silva or come up with another career as there is NO ONE at welterweight on the planet that can give him a good fight let alone beat him. He has already beat Fitch...why should GSP even consider fighting him again? They guy gets a draw with BJ Penn...who GSP beat up....and now he deserves a shot at GSP. Yawn. Whatever. There's a reason Dana White is the President of the UFC and not the numnuts posting on this board.

August 16, 2011  10:04 PM ET

If Shields gets a win in next fight then he and Fitch need to go...Shields at least is evolving his standup.
