Lakers' most valuable trade bait?

09:25 AM ET 08.07 | Is Andrew Bynum the league's most intriguing and powerful trade chip? He's considered a top-10 center in a class led by Dwight Howard, but there's currently no more pivotal pivot than Bynum. He might be able to deliver 2012 prospective free agents Howard or Chris Paul or Deron Williams to L.A., compensation to those stars' respective teams and revive Kobe's title plans. Bynum's so valuable to the Lakers that his real value is in leaving them.

yep high value high risk since he is injury plagued...

Surely he is a trade bargain involving Dwight. But with any one else (Dwill, Paul etc), I'did be careful. Centers are hard to come by. You can get PGs otherwise too.

I'm thinking we could go to just a monthly T&R for the NBA until this is solved?

Are you going to Disney World, Bro?

How many times does Dr Buss have to say it; Bynum isn't going anywhere?

Agree, LA doesnt need another star...they just need a pg who isn't old, like fisher and who doesn't suck (like blake)Just a middle of the road guy. That being said, for dwight, they should move anything not nailed down

i mean if we can trade bynum for a legit PG or dwight im all for it. bynum has yet to put in a full season for us and his medical record scares the bejesus out of me.

"Move anything not nailed down" LOL. :)Just have the Lakers roster switch places with the Magic roster.Everyone on the Magic moves to LA, and everyone on the Lakers moves to Orlando.

lol then we'd be the los angeles magic and that wont help either side :)

Totally agree. Dwight has the star power smile of Magic and Shaq. He was born for LA. Bynum, meanwhile, is not only a middle of the pack talent and the owner of unreliable knees, he also owns the ugliest foul of the Playoffs. Get him gone. Please.

Meanwhile we have an aging Kobe, an unreliable Pau, an it's-time-already Fisher, and the eternal head scratcher named Artest. Lakers need to transition by bringing in the next franchise player during Kobe's decline. Whether Dwight or Paul or preferably both, be willing to move any and all of the rest.

He can say whatever he wants to say but if Orlando comes calling with Dwight Howard and Nelson he'd be stupid not take the offer and run.

While it's time for Fisher to go or be relegated to bench status, talk like this is madness. The Lakers were back to back champs and just went to the Finals three straight years. The Lakers are an older team but had tired legs. It wasn't that they couldn't play with all of the good teams, they couldn't close out games. I'll take my chances with this team but would definitely like to see an upgrade at the starting PG. These guys still have another 2-3 year run in them.

Don't see Orlando making that deal though I'd take it if offered.

depends how desperate they get at the trade deadline. they can either get something for him or get clevelanded?

yep,
We would not have this conversation if Bynum Knees were not an issue.
The kid plays great ball and is the second best center on the league. If there is a way to use him as a trade bait for Howard, I am all for it. The problem is..... Jim is not.

Indeed. Howard is gone, the Magic is just hoping to get a good deal, but as you know you never get the same amount of talent when you trade a superstar. (Shaq anyone?)

only downside with a trade with orlando is that yosemite sam (arenas) will certainly be packaged with howard.
