Pronger aiming for 82 games

08:33 AM ET 08.09 | Give credit to Chris Pronger for his optimism. Pronger, trying to bounce back from a three-surgery season, said he hopes to play all 82 regular season games in 2011-12 and laughed off a suggestion that age was catching up with him. In a conference call with reporters on Monday, the almost-37-year-old Flyers defenseman said he has been exercising regularly -- walking a treadmill, riding a stationary bike and doing workouts to strengthen his back, legs and shoulders -- but has not been given the go-ahead to lift weights. Though he isn't expected to be ready for the start of training camp on Sept. 16, Pronger said "The goal is to be ready for Game 1 of the regular season. I'm starting to progress."

82 games eh? Figure 24 games in the playoffs (on average) to win the Cup. That gives him 58 regular season games, so we won't see him til November. Then we go all the way. Sound about right?

LOL! Are you and Stranger trying to pull that "overwhelm the Pen's fans" trick on the Flyers fans too? What's next Cap's fans? Both of us? When Phantom get's back he'll no doubt team up with Cromster to counter-attack. I may have to get DWI back here to help. In the meantime.....keep it up!

I'm a Bruins fan and I can't stand Crissy. On the other side, I applaud his optimism but I don't think 82 games would be a great plan if you want to see him succeed in the playoffs. But I realize he has to say he wants 82 and that it shows leadership.
