08:21 AM ET 08.09 | Butch Davis may be gone, but he's clearly not forgotten. A group of North Carolina football supporters who agreed to help fund Kenan Stadium's "Blue Zone" expansion project wants more information about why coach [Davis] was fired. Don Brown, one of five lawyers representing the group, had his Charlotte firm fax a public records request to North Carolina on Monday asking for all correspondence -- including emails, text messages, letters and voice recordings -- between the Chancellor Holden Thorp and various university officials. The issue, according to Brown: Why was Davis terminated just nine days before fall practice, after repeated statements over the past year supporting him as coach? He said the group might explore legal action depending on the information it receives.

Some boosters are too stoopid for their own good.

They are probably making a power move on the Chancellor.

It's not because they fired Butch. Few (rational) UNC fans opposed firing Butch...but either do it seven months ago or four months from now.

This is to put pressure on UNC's Chancellor to either (a) force him out, too or (b) make sure he knows the money will dry up unless UNC hires a big-name coach (and protect their investment in stadium expansion for a school that is now, apparently, de-emphasizing football.)

But no one in their right mind thinks Butch will actually come back.
