08:04 AM ET 08.10 | If optimism is part of the job description, Rex Grossman is ready to lock down the No. 1 spot in Washington. [Grossman] is going all-in as well. "We're fine being the sleepers right now," Grossman told Comcast SportsNet. ... "You know, we're just waiting in the wings, ready to take over the NFC East. Nobody's talking about us. That's right where we want to be. You look at us from top to bottom out here, there's a bunch of great players. And we don't need people saying we're the best right now, but when it's all said and done, I really feel like this team's gonna win the East." I mean, that's great that he feels that way. Certainly better than the alternative.

Well..there is a good reason nobody is talking about you Rex!

August 10, 2011  08:07 AM ET

Unless the realign the division so its only the Skin, that ain't happening.

August 10, 2011  08:13 AM ET

Has this schmuck even been made the starting QB?

August 10, 2011  08:14 AM ET

Hilarious. But stranger things have happened.

The only way this happens is if the Eagles team bus gets hijacked to Tijuana.

Judging by the way he reported to camp, I'd say Rex has been the sleeper during workout time. Who handed this idiot a microphone, anyway?

August 10, 2011  08:17 AM ET

Friday.. 7:30 PM... Rex Grossman, meet James Harrison.

August 10, 2011  08:23 AM ET

Early August - confidence is brimming.

Check back in November...

Yes, but there is a difference between confidence and sheer stupidity. So go ahead Rex and put a target on your back, like that's the last thing you need.

Big **** target based on how he showed up at camp...

If nobody is talking about you and that's right where you want to be, why point it out? That kinda stirs up the conversation.

August 10, 2011  08:33 AM ET

Clearly, the NFL needs to go to the Redskins training camp and start the drug testing.

August 10, 2011  08:35 AM ET

Delusions of grandeur. Then again what would your want your QB to say to the press? "Guys we really sucked last year and we are going to suck worse this year, but please continue to give us millions of dollars."

August 10, 2011  08:38 AM ET

The August heat seems to cook the brains of these college grads who all seem to think their team has a shot at greatness. Gross man obviously never took a Logics class.

August 10, 2011  08:40 AM ET

I think Rex was hanging with Fat Albert in the off season. If FN was not using a picture from last season you would see what I mean.

August 10, 2011  08:40 AM ET

I'd say it's understating things to call them sleepers.

It's more like they are in a coma.

August 10, 2011  08:41 AM ET

Delusional!

August 10, 2011  08:41 AM ET

Mr. Grossman has jumped right over the line that separates confidence from delusion.

Throw in the Browns, Seahawks and Denver and they might win.

Denver? Isn't Mr. Tebow going to lead them to the Super Bowl this year?
