T.O. lashes out at Keyshawn

Terrell Owens has been relatively quiet away from the field this season. Until Wednesday. Owens lashed out at former Cowboys receiver and current ESPN analyst Keyshawn Johnson. Smiling at times during a 15-minute interview with reporters, Owens took some offense to Johnson's statement Sunday that he's not giving former coach Bill Parcells credit for building this Cowboys team that is 12-1. Johnson said Parcells deserves some credit. "It's not a matter of me giving or not giving Bill credit," Owens said. "Everybody wants to make a big deal that this is the team he built. It doesn't matter. My thing is give credit to Wade [Phillips]." Owens added that Johnson, if he came out of retirement, couldn't make a team. "I challenge him to come out of retirement and try to take my position," Owens said.

How does Johnsons playing ability have anything to do with this?

December 13, 2007  08:24 AM ET

Here's my take. Disgruntled retired receiver (formerly of the Bucs, let's not forget),who was cut by the Cowboys to make room for TO and who would kneel down to kiss Parcell's arse, takes shot at TO because #81 has not provided enough media fester on his own. TO responds by calling Keyshawn out, -itch slapping him in front of America, while saying nothing but the truth.

BTW remember, this is the same broadcaster who declared Romo "the most overhyped player in the NFL". Great call. We cut you Keysh, you are no longer relevant. Just let it go, Keyshawn, just let it go.

FERRELL...when you commented on Keyshawn selling out to any team, I thought you were talking about T.O. This is now his third team , and there will most likely be more...The only difference I see between the two is that Johnson has a Superbowl ring, and T.O. does not....I think it would be better if her were daring Moss to come take his job away instead of challenging a retired player..Regardless, I just hope Wade does not turn or move too quickly, TO could suffer a neck injury..

50 year,

First off, Keyshawn started this at the urging of someone at ESPN I'm sure. You say he called out a retired player. As TO reminded Keysh, they both entered the league at the same time, so you have a third round pick challenging a first round USC golden boy. I thought TO was more than fair acknowledging that Keysh would be better off competing with Sam Hurd for a position.

Guys, this is just the tip of the iceberg. You can bet the ranch on this one: it's just a matter of time before Owens throws Tony Romo and Wade Phillips under the bus. Oh sure, when you are 12-1, all is good, and he's on his best behavior. Anybody wanna bet that if Dallas fails to win the Superbowl, that he'll keep quiet? I already have my popcorn ready so I can sit back and watch the show when he starts to turn on the Cowboys.....

December 13, 2007  08:43 AM ET

No one is going to try and argue that Johnson is an equal receiver as TO....but THAT ISN'T THE ISSUE! TO is distracting you all....quite successfully I might add. One could even say your lips are surgically implanted on #81s butt.

Watch the video on the right, much better.

Personally, I agree with TO on this one. Keyshawn has been running his mouth all year about how it's Bill Parcell's Cowboys. Nice to see Owens actually defending his coach.

December 13, 2007  08:54 AM ET

Funny how some people don't bother checking the story before spouting off. TO is pulling Wade out from under the bus where Keysh left him. TO sticking up for his coach, a novel new approach and one that will be ignored by people blinded by their jealousy and hatred. Keyshawn siezed an opportunity to not only more securely adhere his lips to daddy Parcells fanny but to also take another shot at Gruden. Let it go Keyshawn, just let it go. Let it go haters, just let it go.

December 13, 2007  08:56 AM ET

Keyshawn is talking about the Cowboys being a team that Parcells built, which is true. Rather than talk about that TO distracts you all with a "TO is a better player than Johnson" act that plays out beautifully for you boys fans, but for a rational observer it is just another sign of his egotistical mind and how fans such as yourself Ferrell don't care one iota about how a player behaves so long as they are winning. I am sure you were one of the fans slamming TO for his behavior in San Fran and Philly, but now that he is a Boy...well all is forgiven.

December 13, 2007  08:57 AM ET

The media wants to see TO create controversy. This year he has not created much controversy so the media tried to turn issues in to big ones but that didn't work now they are trying to create it. The media makes money off of controversy and breaking stories.

To for the most part likes to tell it like it is. All you have to do is look at philly, all he did was bring out into the open the issues that have been festering their in the management and Mcnabb.

Parcells did help build the team but he could only take it so far. Wade and his staff has helped this team reach its full potental

December 13, 2007  08:59 AM ET

The only difference between the two recievers is that TO was, and is, a better player..Actually, I would like to see some DNA testing done on the two to find out if they are actually related....

BigBlue,

This isn't even about TO and fans or winning. This is about some reporter wanna-be who never lived up to his own hype. Craving attention, he takes an unprovoked shot at TO. All this in hopes that some narrow minded fans will look past the real story and blame TO just for the sake of hating.

I also take the unique perspective that alot of the mess in Philly was over hyped and over-reacted to.

FERRELL1 | 12/13/07

You aren't suggesting the media would take comments and create their own stories, are you?

December 13, 2007  09:11 AM ET

Yes, yes, yes....Let's hear from the Bucs about Meshawn.

December 13, 2007  09:12 AM ET

As much as I detest TO, he is a better player than Keyshawn ever was. Just stay in the booth and don't do anything stupid Keyshawn. You had your chances and you did ok/ But even on your best day on the football field, it wasn't as good as that bozo mouthed Owens.

December 13, 2007  09:12 AM ET

This whole controversy between TO and Keyshawn is nothing but an ESPN ploy. Good for ratings, no negative stories this year about TO so something has to be instigated. Gossip is what ESPN panders to.........most sports news is not very remarkable, so in between games to keep viewers fixated on their channel they get Keyshawn, their employee to start something with TO that they can blow up. Most of the shows on ESPN are nothing but gossip and very little fact. Prime example: Rome is Burning, Around the Horn, and PTI. They portray boring sports beat writers and try to make them television personalities. We have to listen their bias and sometime racist opinions as enlighten entertainment. These guys aren't authorities about anything concerning sports, they're gossip columnist. Morons with a microphone on television, that's all.

December 13, 2007  09:12 AM ET

T.O.'s kinda of right. It is Bill Parcells team, he built it. Wade Phillips is just doing a better job of managing it. Some coaches are builders, and others can make the most out of what they are given (motivators), and fewer can do both. I don't know how long Wade can keep this team focused, but he did a good job this year.

Keyshawn "GIMME THE BALL" Johnson was the most overrated, dissapointing first rounder of all time, in my opinion. When he asked for more touches, he dropped the ball more. Lost a lot of respect for him when he tried to wh@re himself out at the end of his short career. Superbowl ring? Right place, right time! Now to the issue. Johnson is a commentator/analyst/media beeyatch that crossed the line and disrespected a current NFL coach who has done an amazing job with an average team. Parcell's brought in players, but it is Phillips who is making this team into a contender. Wade Phillips = Coach of the Year! Believe it or not, but I am not even a 'Boys fan. I do know that the Cowboys have somethin' special goin' on down there in Big D. Maybe Keyshawn will advance his "career" enough to be able to induct T.O. into the Hall when he's done. It's all in black and white, TO is ten times the ball player that Keyshawn ever was, he couldn't even catch TO's jockstrap if it was thrown to him, let alone carry it!
