09:27 AM ET 08.13 | USC's starting tailback job is turning into a moving target. That, at least, is the way Coach Lane Kiffin is playing it publicly. Redshirt freshman D.J. Morgan started the first scrimmage, sophomore Dillon Baxter moved ahead with a strong performance, and Friday, Kiffin said junior Curtis McNeal was in the lead.

Baxter, Morgan, McNeal and Carlisle. Tyler can go pound sand, we have 4 guys who can do the job. I like our depth at RB.

Good economic decision. 4 players in shared condo units situation will be a lot easier than trying to get by with 1 player and his whole family in a McMansion. :)

Lame Kiffin is the moving target.
He's got a bulls-eye on his back and is now finding out how hard it is to manage and lead an organization, instead of just mouthing off to the media.

Lame Kiffin* should be gone after this year. That hire was Mike Garretts way to get a last laugh on the program.

*Kiffin's wife can stay!!!!

Wow look at that. The guy who's school had their 2nd biggest coaching icon ever, turned out to be dirtier than the guy you keep taking shots at. Poor Rockhead, I feel bad for you dude. Only a little though.

ICE, actually PR is a pretty good guy, it is just that he has a short time memory loss!!! LOL.

Agreed. That's why I thought Tyler would get his walking papers after the TMZ video. Their depth makes him replaceable.

The only problem is they aren't tailback U anymore. In the Pac-10-12 for the last decade California has turned out more Pro running backs and USC has been turning out QB's.

If you have 3+ running backs competing for the starting tailback role, you don't have any. While I'd love to have a RB who "takes pressure off the QB to throw the ball", who are we kidding here? We need RBs who can (a) help provide run and pass support for a suspect offensive line, and (b) catch a 5 yard pass in the flat.
