As much as we love Nathan, he's 36 years old. How much longer can he be effective? We loved the Nathan of old, but we've got Capps who's younger & also in the final year of his contract.

I'd love to see both return, but I'd rather lock up the younger player that hasn't had a major injury.

Ah johnny, have you seen Capps pitch lately? He has no movement on his fastball, will not pitch inside, and leaves the ball up. Recipie for disaster which is what he's been. Yes Nathan is 36, but he looks like he could be effective for a year or two, and it looks like we've got a closer in the making in the low minors who could be ready in two to three years. So, keep Nathan for 2 more years, let Capps go and sign some middle relievers that can get someone out with the Capps savings, or use that to invest in a SS that can field and get a hit.

36 ain't old when it comes to relievers who only pitch a few pitches every few days. There are a bunch of 'em flourishing in the bigs right now.

Yes his control has been an issue lately, but that comes n goes. Capps is younger, I'd rather trust him for 5 years than Nathan for 2.

Let Capps go? Why not put him on waivers? Plenty of teams looking for late inning relief- might actually get something in return instead of letting him go.

unless nathan its willing to sign a minor league contract, his best times are gone and he should know that!!

Better out of the pen. He loses control or hitter figure him out when he goes 5-6 innings. His velocity is back up to 97, and seems to have good break on the ball as well.

And keep him for what reason? To give him more than $10million a year for throwing a inning or two a week? Closers are overpaid for what they are doing for a made up role. Twins need to go out and spend that $10 + million on a quality starter who can throw 7+ innings or rebuild the middle relief they got rid of signing these outrageous contracts for Mauer and Nathan. The Twins have gotten away from their core beliefs, grow from within and from the minors and sprinkle a few veterans in there.
