Redskins' Randle El taking snaps

Wide receiver Antwaan Randle El prepared for his new role as the emergency quarterback, working at the position after practice yesterday at Redskins Park. Randle El was with the first-team offense while the Washington Redskins prepared to face the Giants on Sunday, then remained behind to take snaps and review plays after most of the coaches and players had left the practice field. With Jason Campbell expected to be sidelined the last three regular season games because of knee problems and Todd Collins and Mark Brunell the only healthy quarterbacks on the active roster, Randle El said he would be ready if needed.

This man was a big time college QB. There's no reason why he couldn't come in and do the job...

Slash is back!

I 'm no Redskins fan, but I'd love to see Randle El play QB. He played a mean QB in college and like others have said, anybody but Brunell!

Wasn't Kordell Stewart "Slash".

I Think if the Skin loses another game and gets knock out of the playoff hunt, Why not start Randle El, it would give the Skins Fans something to look foward to watching!

^Yeah, Clinton hasn't had three 1,000+ yard seasons of his four years in Washington...>_>

December 14, 2007  10:20 AM ET

Well he threw a TD in the Super Bowl when Big Ben couldn't.

December 14, 2007  10:23 AM ET

If I was a Redskins fan, I rather see Brunell in there. He is the only one that has a chance of beating the Cowboys.

Hey Loki - guess who holds the Redskins' rushing record.

It'd be fun to see Randle El play some Q, but I know by now that being a good passer in college has no bearing on your NFL potential.

I don't see him getting any serious game time. The Saunders playbook is like War & Peace.

And Terrell Davis was "that" good.

Slash !

In a related story Matt Jones is taking emergency snaps in case David Garrard can't go...

C'mon guys it'd be fun, but you can chalk all this up filler information when they have no real story to write.

JustinHale420,

More like "Trash"

December 14, 2007  05:17 PM ET

Antwaan should actually make a pretty damned good QB for the Skins.

December 14, 2007  05:31 PM ET

If Brunell plays crappy in the first half, I can see Randel El being placed at the QB position for the second half. You can count on seeing him throw at least one pass on an option play.
