Eli: I'm in Brady's class

07:57 AM ET 08.17 | Eli Manning is an elite NFL quarterback ... just ask him. The New York Giants quarterback, who does have a Super Bowl MVP award to his name, said on "The Michael Kay Show" on ESPN New York 1050 on Tuesday that he considers himself to be a top quarterback who belongs in the same class as New England's Tom Brady. "I consider myself in that class and Tom Brady is a great quarterback, he's a great player and what you've seen with him is he's gotten better every year." ... While Manning is regarded as a very good quarterback by most, as he's led the Giants to the playoffs in four of his seven seasons as the full-time starter, there is usually a hesitation to place him among the elite in the game.

I guess he did make the Dean's list the year they won the SB, but his GPA is maybe a 2.5

We're kidding here right? One LUCKY catch for a Super Bowl ring (someone remind him he only has ONE)....and your in Brady's class? Peyton needs to call his brother and tell him to keep his mouth shut.

August 17, 2011  08:09 AM ET

Not even the best in the same class as his own brother.

August 17, 2011  08:09 AM ET

Eli has Brady right: he has gotten better each year. But Eli has leveled out and has not improved much over the past three years. I sure hope he has a breakout year this season, it's long overdue.

August 17, 2011  08:15 AM ET

Not even in the same class as fellow 04 draftee Big Ben who has 3 SB appearances and is 2-1.

August 17, 2011  08:17 AM ET

I didn't know that Brady and Manning attended summer courses together.

I still take issue with this "Eli is considered a very good quarterback by most"....

Who are these "most"? Other writers in New York?

August 17, 2011  08:19 AM ET

Eli is in Brady's class? Is Brady teaching little kids how to be quarterbacks? Because Eli could sure use it.

You'll note he didn't say "I'm in Peyton's class."

August 17, 2011  08:19 AM ET

It's the hands man, the small hands that set him apart. lol.

August 17, 2011  08:22 AM ET

No way he is as good as Brady...Keep dreamin Eli...

August 17, 2011  08:22 AM ET

Last season Eli was #17 in QB rating, #9 in completion %age, #10 in yds/attempt.

He was #1 in one category: Interceptions.

August 17, 2011  08:24 AM ET

there are 3 'classes' of QB talent, Eli would most likely fall within the 2nd tier. The first tier being Brady, P Manning and Rodgers (and Brees perhaps).

2nd tier would be your Eli, Rivers, , Romo, Stafford, etc.
3rd tier would be your Grossmans, Smith, most of the rookies, etc
