07:57 AM ET 08.17 | Having grown up in Brazil, Nene is quite familiar with the beautiful game, something he now has more time to play under the circumstances. They play soccer on Thursdays, Denver's melting pot of footballers from Brazil, Argentina, Peru. It's a hodgepodge of muscular men, lithe ladies and one 6-foot-11 dude who somehow seems to fit in like he is 5-foot-11 -- except when there's a header battle. ... [The] longtime Nuggets center has been playing pickup matches in Denver parks this summer, a man-child playing his favorite childhood game. "I feel more close to Brazil (when I play)," said Nene, a native of Sao Carlos, Brazil, who joined the Nuggets in 2002. "I miss it so much, and my friends live there. But I can come here and play soccer and enjoy it. It's a sport I love."

As a soccer fan I hope he is not on the Ronaldinho/Ronaldo/Adriano...etc... diet. We all know what happens when Brazilian athletes try to keep in shape. They dont!

Soccer is an excellent sport to stay in shape plus is lots of fun to play. At least Nene is not playing baseball, that would get him a nice gut like Shaq. lol

No seriously Gugy...I love soccer....been around it all my life...and its not a dig on you or Brazil...I really think no one is better than Maradona...that is just my true opinion...and of course Manu is the best export the NBA has outside Dirk eventhough that is debateable.

Well, this is not the first time your opinions turned out wrong. lol
Comparing Maradona to Pele is like comparing Kobe to MJ. Great players but one is the GOAT.
You love to bring stats to prove how MJ was so superior to Kobe, when I did that with Pele, you dissed him with the excuse he had better talent around him.
Maradona had a great career but not even close to what Pele has accomplished.
