08:10 AM ET 08.17 | After playing only 54 games in 2010-11, Daniel Alfredsson has his sights set higher in 2011-12. [Alfredsson] skated for more than an hour on Tuesday and pronounced his back "felt fine." Alfredsson took to the ice for the first time since he curtailed his 2010-11 NHL season on Feb. 7 in Vancouver and had back surgery in June. "It felt good to be back on the ice," Alfredsson told Rob Brodie of the team's website OttawaSenators.com. "I was on for maybe an hour, an hour and 20 (minutes), did some drills and played a little bit of a scrimmage. It was fun. I was tired, but everything held up well and the back felt fine." Alfredsson, 38, opened his 16th NHL season, all with the Senators, by skating at the Bell Sensplex in Kanata.

Well at least one Senator seems anxious to go back to work, although for the life of me I can't explain why.

I can't wait to boo him 3 times this year.

glad to see Alfie back on the ice, hopefully going full speed.
too bad it appears he will not have much scoring support for this season.

The Tucker hit. That, and he just looks like someone you wanna punch in the jujunum.

Don't you already have a 'team' that you can boo 41 times a year?

I'm not very vocal, so I save the chords for the 3 Alfie visits. However, if you'd like to test my waffle-tossing skills...

You win that round on points.

and boy oh boy does your Team need you Danny Boy . A good or bad season for this guy is likely a key contributing factor in whether or not Sylvester finally get kicked out of the GM chair.

What's a little more crap on the ice at the ACC?

Gotta figure he's safe for 2 more seasons with that extension, as silly as that may sound.

But there's no controversy about his coaching choice this time, so if it doesn't work out, it SHOULD fall on Murray's shoulders. And his coach-killing players' for that matter.

Watching some hockey show last night, saying we can expect the Sens to sell Gonchar, Spezza, Kuba and Phillips by the deadline if things go as we all expect in terms of Sens wins. But if the team keeps being brutal, it will be the diract fault of the guys I just listed. Who would want to pick up their contracts if they are known coach killers/losers/chumps? No way I pay Spezza $7mill+ a year to be a 2nd line centre. Maybe Minn will trade for him to reunite with Heatley, but who do you get back? Mind you, by then, the Sens may need a goalie again, ha.
