04:09 PM ET 08.17 | Danica Patrick will formally announce her intent to move to NASCAR full-time in 2012 next week, multiple sources with knowledge of her contract negotiations told ESPN.com. While her contracts are still being finalized, Patrick, who has raced in both the IndyCar Series and the Nationwide series this season and last season, will drive the No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet for the entire 2012 Nationwide Series schedule for JR Motorsports, sources said. She also plans to enter select Sprint Cup races next season in cars prepared by Stewart-Haas Racing, with the intent to move to Sprint Cup full-time in a multiyear deal with Stewart Haas in 2013, sources said. Patrick is expected to make the announcement in Phoenix, Ariz., where GoDaddy.com is headquartered, in a news conference currently being arranged, according to sources.

I feel bad for those who deserve it so much more than her, but that's the business world we live in now. I hate to see nascar turning into this. Who is more marketable rather than who is the best and deserves to have a ride. and yes jr is marketable but he deserves a ride, hes good like it or not, but danica doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the cup series. I hate seeing this sport end up like this. sucks

Build it and they will come, put lipstick on it and they will throw the money.

I'm just not gonna sleep until I hear for sure now.....

Come on down over-hyped Danica Earnhardt Jr. Flounder in NASCAR too.

I'm 100% convinced I don't much care if you think that.

Cause despite acts of Buddah I never miss a race.

I just do not like the overhyped Dale Patrick Jr. and revel in his lack of accomplishments.

Much like with Danica Earnhardt Jr. and her struggles.

I hate to cherry pick a part of your comment, but it's been this way for quite a while now.

As for the Jr part of it, I think there a number of young guys who could step into that Hendrick #88 equipment and do just as well if not better. Sad to say, but I think he lost his fire when he was roasting in that Corvette at Infineon in 2004.

I have busted SVT's chops on more than one occasion about the U of Miami, but in all seriousness I really think that professional football and basketball need to develop a minor league system (like baseball & hockey) to replace what they have now.

I don't have a problem with student athletes playing a sport or 2 (or 3) if they are legitimate students, but that's hardly the case anymore at the big time level and not just at Miami. The scholarships should go to the academically gifted kids and no one else.

I know that athletics (especially football and basketball) bring in huge dollars to the schools, but it hasn't stopped the tuition rates from exploding way (way, way, way) beyond the rate of inflation the last 40 years si that argument doesn't hold a bucket of water.

Just think of the possibilities of having minor league football or basketball teams in small or medium sized cities across the country. This also wouldn't eliminate college athletics, it would just confine them to kids who actually qualify for college.

this stuff happens at EVERY major d1 school, however this particular case is about a convicted felon who swindled folks out of 920 million dollars.. he was basically trying to buy friends.. so when randy shannon shunned him he was pissed and now that hes in jail for 20 some years, hes got nothing to lose.. there are some major flaws in his story though, so i expect it to amount to little more than a PR nightmare..

with miamis previous image & this dork, you have all the news networks sensationalizing instead of reporting and they are all talking "death penalty"..

a few players implicated in this scandal that went to other schools have already been cleared..
