08:14 AM ET 08.18 | The Giants, of course, would not be the first team that failed to repeat as champions. Oh, stop whining. About the Giants, I mean. You'd think they are the only defending World Series champions who have lost key players due to a train-wreck home-plate collision, a fluke shoulder dislocation, a mysterious wrist problem, a bone bruise in the hand, assorted foot injuries, a wrenched abdomen muscle ... Actually, come to think of it, the Giants may be the only defending champs to suffer exactly that combination of bad breaks. But no team goes through a season 100 percent injury free. Bad breaks and bruises are part of every sport. Not every game, though. Unless you're the Giants. Look, sometimes, it is just not a certain team's certain year.

Its tough to repeat, but every team fights through injuries. Phillies only had their everyday lineup for 12 games last year. The Red Sox always lose people. And its been no different for them this year. Quit crying about injuries and just admit the Giants got hot at the right time last year, but they are overall just not a good team, outside of Lincecum, Cain, Wilson, and Posey

I mean, realistically, right now the Giants wouldn't be within 10 games of 1st place in any other division. This is based on the fact that they play the bulk of their games against the NL West and are under .500 against the rest of baseball.
