09:47 AM ET 08.21 | Looks like that Timberwolves coaching interview process isn't over after all. After interviewing six candidates in person, the team is working once again on trying to get former Houston coach Rick Adelman to come to town early next week to meet with David Kahn, Glen Taylor, Rob Moor, minority partners and other personnel. It's not a done deal yet though, I've been told.

With the team they have Adelman's coaching style would work. However, this is Kahn. He'll undermine Adelman every chance he gets and then blow the whole thing up for a bag of magic beans.

If there has ever been a better candidate for contraction, I'd certainly like to hear about it. They're too dumb to realize that the front office doesn't matter if you can't win a basketball game.

Why would any established coach want to come to Minnesota? Glen Taylor lets David Kahn do anything he wants and in two years the coach will be fired. Glen Taylor needs to sell the team to someone like Vikings owner, who will actually do something and make an effort to win. I love Minnesota and its a great place to live but man does our basketball team stink....I'm actually more interested in the Lynx then I am the Twolves.

Adelman would be a great coach for this team. They have the type of players that could play the style he likes to play. I think he'd rather take a team with a chance through the playoffs than rebuild a team, though. The Wolves would be lucky to have him.

Adelman doesn't deserve to be damned with this team.. he deserves to get an opportunity to coach a team with championship possibilities.

Just for Arguement's sake, what if Adelman (or another coach) were able to come to Minny and with some luck, wisdom, experience, motavation and decisions not made by Kahn, would turn the T-Wolves into a legit contender, would not that coach be considered a great coach? Some pro coaches aren't looking to walk into a contender, as they are walking into a team that was put together by someone else, but to walk into a place and build a contender themselves.
For example, the 1991 Twins vs Atlanta World Series. The previous season the Twins were in last place, but won the World Series the next year. What coach wouldn't want something like that as their legacy?
But sadly, with Kahn at the helm, I would highly doubt anything would be accomplished. If I was Adelman, I would want final say on any and every player transactions.

For those who are ripping Kahn, what exactly are you basing that negativity on? Simmons childish ribbing of him?
Kahn certainly stumbled out of the gate - hiring Rambis and drafting Jonny Flynn (one month after taking over the team). He's actually been pretty solid since then though He traded Foye & Miller for Rubio, he chose Kevin Love over Al Jefferson. He got Beasley for two 2nd round picks and brought in solid bench guys like Webster, Anthony Randolph and Tolliver. He's done a good job blowing up the doomed and depressing McHale era and forming a promising young team.
Now Kahn has correctly recognized that Adelman is the perfect candidate for this team and is making a run at him (while Taylor internally stumps for his old (mediocre) buddy Sam Mitchell). If this team gets Rubio, Derrick Williams and the rest of its young core paired with Adelman, they'll be one of the most exciting teams in the league... and you guys will still rip Kahn.

are you david kahn himself bro? dude. this kahn guy is an idiot. where to begin? drafting 3 point guards in one draft, trading al jefferson (legit big man post up player), signing darko when darko was on his way out of the league and headed back to europe. only bright spot was drafting KLove but man this clown kahn should have been fired a looooonnng time ago.

We got two 1st round picks for Al Jefferson, both of which Utah would love to have back. Big Al is sooo overrated and a black hole out there who waddles up and down the floor to the tune of $10 million per year. He couldn't play with Love so one of them had to go and he was coming off a bad season and a bum knee. Big Al's a great guy as a person, but overrated on the court.
Kahn didn't draft 3 PGs in one draft, it was two. He took Rubio (great), Flynn (crap, but you get the thinking - to fill a spot if Rubio doesn't sign right away). Then we traded the #18 to Denver for a future 1st, and they took Lawson. The Wolves pulled his name, but Kahn didn't draft him.
Darko gets payed backup center money ($5 million per - 3 years guaranteed), and he plays like a backup center. Word around Target Center is that was Rambis's target as well, not Kahn's. Rambis felt he could mold him into a solid center. Anyhow, centers get paid in this league and $15 million over 3 years is not a travesty for a guy who can defend as a backup.
The Wolves would love to land a real starting center, but they're not all that easy to come by. Depending on the coach, I wouldn't be surprised to see K-Love get a lot of minutes down there with Derrick Williams and Beasley at the 3/4 slots.
Anyhow, the media loves to pile on Kahn (he does talk funny and say some dumb stuff), but as a GM, he does an OK job. When you consider how meddling and clueless Glen Taylor is and how bad the coach was (that's partially on Kahn), he's managed to still provide intriguing talent going into this season (whenever that happens).

Adelman is a super coach and I thought he was to become the Lakers head coach until Mike Brown was hired. He's a great strategy coach but I believe he may be tired of coaching non contending teams. He has been close so many times of coaching a contending team and I'm sure he was a bit disappointed when he coached Houston, a team that had McGrady and Yao at one time only to fall short because of injuries. If he accepts the Minnesota job it will be because of the love for the game or money.
