Adams won't reward Johnson's behavior

08:00 AM ET 08.22 | Mike Reinfeldt said over the weekend that it made little sense to bother with an offer to Chris Johnson, considering the chasm between the two sides, and he appears to have a strong ally in the organization -- the owner. [Bud Adams] is fine with that stance, especially since Johnson's current contract has two more years to run, and the fact that Johnson has stayed away from camp since it opened on July 30. "I'm not gonna make any offer with the way he's acting. Life's too short," Adams said. While it appears the Titans are standing firm in their stance, indications are that Johnson's camp has dug in their heels as well in their demands. The possibility of the stalemate lasting into the regular season is becoming more likely each day.

Adams is a CHEAP owner

2 years left on his contract, He wants Peyton Manning $, Sorry, don't see it happening

Ironic he says, "Lifes too short" when he is talking about a RB who has torn up the league and is set to make like 800k. I don't get what Adams is talking about if his defense is life is to short.

On Point!

In Bud Adams' case... life IS too short...

August 22, 2011  08:16 AM ET

This sounds really familiar (we aren't going to reward him)....oh yeah the bungles- and we see where that got them! Now they have a rookie QB that is getting killed and they have lost half of their offensive weapons- with nothing to show for Carson Palmer, who is just waiting on them to get close to the cap so he can show up and force them to do something.

Bud Adams will be flippin' off fans in no time once again. Of course, this time, just like last the fan will be right on when saying, "The Titans Stink"!!

August 22, 2011  08:23 AM ET

Adams SHOULD reward Johnson's behavior ... either by cutting him or benching him without pay for the year.

August 22, 2011  08:25 AM ET

"the way he is acting". A extremely paternalistic comment by Adams. He might as well call Johnson "uppity"

Bud Adams is a crochety old miser.

Wouldn't be surprised if the term "uppity" crossed his mind...

Oiler's fans will remember just how much of a scrooge this guy is....

Yup... They have seen this movie before.

Ending will be the same too.

Johnson is not helping himself. Adams is no genius either... but the days of RBs getting huge $$ are long gone. Johnson is clearly underpaid, but RBs have such a short shelf-life, that he has to get more realistic in his demands. Fitzgerald made his cash because he is a WR, with a much longer career line. RBs usually have a steady decline after 4-5 years. It all comes dwon to the signing bonus and guaranteed $$ up front. Most teams are running by committee these days, and using lesser-known players to do it. You don't need a star RB to win in the NFL. Johnson should get his booty into camp, sign a front-loaded deal in the 10 million dollar range and play the game.

And there are those who say it hasn't been short enough.

Younger than Ralph, older than Al.

August 22, 2011  08:55 AM ET

Has Adams been attending the: Mike Brown School of Intelligent Business Practices and Colorin' Stuff?

Or, is it the other way around?

Go ahead, Bud, alienate CJ. I'm sure he'd rather be an Eagle, anyway.

If not, maybe, he'll just decide to pull a "Barry Sanders" on you. (Do we call that a "Carson Palmer," now?)

August 22, 2011  08:59 AM ET

They can suck with CJ, or suck without him. Who's gonna part with Peyton Manning money under those circumstances. I'll give you a hint: it ain't Adams.

You summed it up nicely

If your under contract, your under contract.

Bud Adams said this too late. Fantasy drafts were last night. A lot of people with #1 and #2 picks are now foaming at the mouth lol.
