Olson getting paid during leave
When Arizona basketball coach Lute Olson extended his leave of absence for the rest of the season, people were so shocked that the question of whether he would continue to get paid never came up. The answer is yes, he will be paid, though university officials declined to say whether the legendary coach is using up vacation or sick time as part of his leave. And although most people don't get months of paid leave to deal with personal problems, Olson's treatment illustrates the rarified world of major college sports, putting him more in the league of a CEO of a major company than that of a typical university.

Olson is always regarded as a "good guy" who loves Arizona. So let's watch and see what he does with the money.
Will he give it back to Arizona, or will it become a new yacht?

I think it's a bit ridiculous that he's getting paid. His wife is leaving him or vice versa so why pray tell does he need the rest of the season off? Is he planning to win her back? I don't get it....quit her and move on. At his age he needs to be focusing on his job because who knows how many seasons he has left. If he's burned out then resign and enjoy the rest of your years with a lot more money than 90% of the world has at retirement age!

Lute build the damn school.....let'em ride the clock for a year....BUT ONLY a year.....he has earned it......think about the money he brought in.....the deals the school got becoz of him and the basketball program....its not like they have been a football power house

what do u mean HE earned it? he did his job, did what he was paid to do, if i decide i dont want to do my job for a year i guarantee im not gonna get paid for it, regardless of all the revenue i bring my company!
besides that the players actually brought the money in
u dont work u dont eat, simple as that, im sure hes got a nice savings and wont be hurting. not my money, so i really could give two squirts of piss but dont say he EARNED it, because u earn something by doing something, namely working, ur not working so ur not EARNING anything!!!

EAZEBACK you are one hell of an idiot. If you had a decent job where you are the lead in bringing in millions of dollars & you are one of the company's biggest assets they better give you time off after 20 years of hard work. You also need to take in account Lute only taken a few weeks off for personal time during his entire tenure. The average job gives 15-20 paid days off a year, this more than covers a season on the clock.
