Ozzie would welcome Thome back

08:19 AM ET 08.24 | Yet again, the White Sox may not have a spot for Jim Thome. [With] Paul Konerko continuing to battle through the pain in his left calf/knee caused by an Andrew Miller fastball on July 31, the designated hitter spot has been filled, and that's the only spot Thome could take at this stage. But count manager Ozzie Guillen as one of many who would welcome back the prolific slugger. "I'd love to add Jim Thome back, to be honest with you," said Guillen. ... "A lot of people think I don't want Jimmy. It was just at that time we didn't have any place for him. But I have said day in and day out that Jimmy is one of my favorite guys in baseball. That's up to [general manger] Kenny [Williams]. I don't know if we're going to have five DHs."

It's easy for Ozzie to say he wants him back because it makes no sense and will never happen. Ozzie's just, for once, being diplomatic about his comments.

Dont let the door hit you on the way out!

hopefully he can make it thru waivers to the Phillies and get 600 and a World Series Championship in the same year

Phillies have the best record in the majors. There's no way Thome falls that far.

White Sox put a claim on him anyway so it doesnt matter.

no way Twins send him to Chicago......no love there...Thome will only go where he wants or Twins will keep.....Cleveland is the obvious choice....Philli maybe but limited role......bet he stays with Twins.

I can't envision any scenario in which Thome goes to the Phillies. They have the very last chance at him, behind every AL team and then go to the NL since Philly has the best record, they have dead last dibs on him.

I would think anyone else in the NL playoff chase would put in a claim on him if for no other reason, just solely to keep Thome away from the Phils

Me thinks Ozzie would welcome a gun shot to the head
