Tallon raises expectations on Fleischmann

08:25 AM ET 08.24 | Wondering who Panthers GM Dale Tallon is most looking forward to seeing in the revamped lineup? [When asked, Tallon's] eyes lit up as he pointed across the room. "Tomas Fleischmann," Tallon said with a smile, "is going to be something special." Tallon is genuinely excited about the offensive talents that Fleischmann brings to a Panthers team that has struggled to score the past few seasons. Fleischmann signed a four-year deal with the Panthers on July 1, making the 27-year-old left wing the highest paid forward on the Panthers. Fleischmann will average $4.5 million in each of the next four seasons; David Booth gets $4.25 million over the same span.

He obviously sees something in him that I don't. The guy only played half a season last year and had 12 goals. His best year was 2009 when he scored 23 goals. Doesn't sound like someone you're going to count on to do anything special.

He's butter.

With an average salary of $4.5 million he'll at least be able to buy 2 or 3 tickets for his friends to a game once in a while. Bring the attendance up to double figures.

He's got his golf gear on in the picture. How ironic.

If he wasn't already meeting expectations, why would you raise expectations? I would keep the expectations the same and then see if he can actually meet those, then raise them.

Isn't that a picture of Darren Clarke?

Perhaps he thinks Dineen can inspire him. New team new Coach.

Just because you give a guy a lot of money doesn't all of a sudden make him better or become a star. For examples see Drury, Chris; Holik, Bobby;Gomez, Scott; Redden, Wade; Komisarek, Mike, etc..

Played very well for Colorado following the trade (nearly a point a game) only to have his season cut short by pulmonary issues. Unfortunately, he'll now be playing for lame duck FLA...And no, he shouldn't be getting paid what he will be, but neither should 95% of the rest of the players in the league.

Old habits die hard for the Panthers. Looks like they converted Dale to their cause instead of the other way around.

Oops. I meant the previous post in answer to this one.

Yeah...5 stories and 2 so far are more about what some Dude-guy is wearing...
This obviously deserves another insertion, invoking Baun-ded rule number 37...(WE DON'T LIKE DUDES FASHIONING THEIR CLOTHES OR UNIFORMS)

So that is why they are raising season ticket prices.

Irony typically conveys a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning, so this really is just poetic, prophetic or pathetic. ;-)

I think Dale's watching a bad slice head into the trees...
