08:24 AM ET 08.24 | Patrick Kane's surgically repaired left wrist now threatens his preseason. Kane gave an update on his wrist, which he underwent surgery for on July 19 to repair a scaphoid fracture, in a radio interview with Fan 590 in Toronto on Tuesday. ... Kane was originally ruled out six to eight weeks. On Monday, general manager Stan Bowman told reporters that Kane was "doing great [and] right on schedule." Now, that doesn't look like the case for the high-scoring winger. Kane just wants to be ready by opening night against the Dallas Stars on Oct. 7. "I still have a little cast on, so it's probably a little bit longer," Kane told Fan 590. "I'm not really going to rush anything. We still have a lot of time. My goal is to be ready for the opening regular season game."

I can't care as long as he's wearing 88. If he changes his number, i MIGHT pay attention to what he does in the future, but honestly, the damage has already been done.

In fact i'm going as far as to call him Kane-dros from now on.

I never understand why these guys wait so long into the Summer to repair something that was bothering them for awhile?

I can't be sure of the circumstances here, but if he had this repaired earlier, he may be ready for camp?

Good point. Does anybody know when the injury occured?

I prefaced by saying I wasn't sure, so...

But take for instance, Orpik on our team. Waits til MID-SUMMER to have surgery on an injury that "bugged" him or he got late in the season last season. I know these guys want to enjoy their Summers, and I am no doctor, but WTF? Wouldn't you want to fix that right away, enjoy the latter part of the Summer and get back to it?

About a week after the July issue of Hustler came out.

Great point. It is baffling to be sure.

Or even playing for one.

Not that I mind, really. Funny, he always wanted to play in To***to. He wouldn't have won a Cup there either.
