Moreau signs, and he's (ticked) off

08:26 AM ET 08.24 | Ethan Moreau paints the lack of interest in his services as a blessing. "Because it makes me [ticked] off for the season coming up," said the 35-year-old forward, who finalized a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Kings on Tuesday. Most athletes will tell you they play better with something to prove -- the proverbial chip on the shoulder -- and Moreau definitely has something. While Kings assistant general manager Ron Hextall said they were "thrilled to have him," he's well aware why Moreau was still on the free agent market in late August: Teams were scared off by a lengthy injury history that included a 2010-11 season in which Moreau played just 37 games.

He is 35 years old and he played less than half the year last year and he is mad because no one jumped at him? How does that ego fit under the helmet?

HA. True.

And only a $600,000 contract? He'll probably be sitting at the practice rink parking lot holding a cup and asking for change.

It is pretty insulting that he only gets paid $600,000 a year. Poor guy is only getting paid better than 99.99% of the rest of the people in the world, and that just isn't fair.

So I guess it's really true - "Less is Moreau."

Groan! Every day I get up and hope that this is the day when Canuck wins the Pulitzer prize for posting. And then..........this happens. I feel like Charlie Brown headed to kick that football and just knowing that Lucy is going to finally give me a good hold. Not. :-)

They just dont pay top dollar for players rehabbing injuries like they used to.

Sorry Slappy, but if I were you I expect "Moreau the same." :-)

Washed up.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....Moreau the same, indeed.

What's next? Danny Markov spouting off about how ticked he is that no one in the NHL has called him about a return? Or, Anson Carter?

August 24, 2011  12:54 PM ET

Good job Dean. Low risk high return (possibly) at 600K. Veteran leadership is always a plus (if he can stay heathy). Kings are geared up for a run at the cup! Now get the Drew signing done Dean!

The Kings are starting to look like the Oilers. Jarret Stoll, Matt Greene, Penner, Fraser, now Moreau. The Oilers couldn't win with these guys I doubt the Kings will. Moreau gives the Kings very little.

Bettered only by his Hustler post in the Kane thread.

You have not been paying attention W2...The majority has decided quite firmly that he definitely gives them.."Moreau"...Sheesh....You're starting to sound like an Oiler fan for goodness sakes. :-)
