Philly reminds Bryzgalov of Russia

08:32 AM ET 08.26 | Ilya Bryzgalov's new home reminds him of his old home: Russia. Bryzgalov, the Flyers' $51 million man, signed this summer to put his new team over the top, has been in Philadelphia for just five days. He has spent much of that time looking for a new house in South Jersey, gathering his equipment, and working out with some of his new teammates in informal pick-up games at the Skate Zone. Yet, just one thing sticks in his mind about his time here so far: the weather. "It's lots of rain," Bryzgalov said. "I'm a little [not] used to this weather, but it's fun. It reminds me of Russia a little bit, but it's great being here, there are lots of trees."

Soon to be seen on Tourism Philly campaigns throughout the Baltic nations...

Vodka in the locker room (no wonder Carter and Richards partied so much)? In Philly, like Russia, cold catches you? Serfs revolting against the czar? The women do filthy, filthy things (that one I believe)? People are already trying to extort him?

In keeping with my theme yesterday, I can call you a communist...or a chump. Either way.

If it never rains and there are no trees you're in the desert. Ilya knows his stuff. Hard to find a practice rink in Cairo.

It's good that you're so enthusiastic there phantom, but just look at Bryzgalov's last 2 Playoffs. He's 3-8 with a .893 Sv% and a 3.9 GAA. Looks to me like a whole lot was getting past him.

Unstoppable? I think they are on the decline. They'll be fighting for the 8th spot.

I saw that North Philly is still stuck in Year 3 of the Glorious 5 Year Plan.
