12:06 PM ET 08.26 | [Michael] Vick did not give in to the impatience that led to three first-half interceptions last week in Pittsburgh, so there was that. But solid Cleveland coverage and the o-line follies kept him to one completion to a wide receiver, a 14-yarder to Jason Avant, the play before Vick rolled right and kept rolling, 8 yards to the end zone for the 17-0 lead. "The minute you start to get down on a player, or down-talk 'em, then that's when they lose confidence," Vick said afterward, under pointed questioning about the blocking. When his questioners persisted, Vick said: "Regardless of who it is, I'm going to give defenses fits anyway. Just plain and simple, saying that out of confidence, not arrogance." Vick specifically stood up for [Jason] Kelce, a sixth-round draft pick from Cincinnati. "You can't expect a guy to come in and be a Pro Bowl player in two games. That's just not the way this thing works," he said.... "We started out a little shaky, but we got it together," Vick said. "You have to take what the defense gives you ... You've just got to let it develop."

Translation: Yeah, sure the guy's a freeking turnstile, but I'm stuck with him, so I don't want to hurt his feelings

I'm digging that he wants defend the big guys, quit dogging the...oooops....aggravating the offensive line.

Love ya Mikey...you're still the man in most of Atlanta's Hearts.

August 26, 2011  12:28 PM ET

stick up for the guys that keep you healthy....

Why have the Eagles done well with Vick over the past couple of years? There it is. He comes out and supports his team. Some guys would have stayed quiet, and some would have thrown the O-line under the bus.

Instead, he reminds the vultures in the sports press that it's preseason, and the guy's a rookie. Sure it was ugly, but Vick's still hangin' with his team, and that's why they'll get through this.

He's elusive enough to compensate for a sub-par O line?

vick is a chump and so is young. the so-called "dream team" (haha) is going to turn into the "nightmare pair" with these two clowns trying to play "running" quarterback. we'll read about phillys convict team in the funny papers. eagles 4-12

You must be either a Jints or Cowboys fan. The only world where they're going 4-12 is yours.

August 26, 2011  01:16 PM ET

Defending them after they did nothing to defend him during the game is awfully big of Vick.

neither actually, but in my world, we DO NOT kill dogs for fun, or have thug groups (flash mobs), or convicts on our team like the city of brotherly hate. lets just say, i hope vick runs a lot to up his chances for broken legs.haha

OK, you don't like him, but that's no basis for your 4-12 prediction. I don't like the Jets, I think their coach is a blowhard and they have a quarterback who is mediocre at best, but I don't see them finishing worse than maybe 10-6. Sure, I'd laugh if the Jets finished 4-12, but I don't confuse my wishes with predictions.

The eagles were better than 4-12 last year and have only made there team better over the off season....so what made u predict a 4-12 season?!

i agree. the jets suck, but will not see anthing over an 8-8 . time for jets to crash. they have had their run of luck. wait and see ,eagles 4-12, or 5-11 at best this year. better bet against and win.

it's easy to see. too many egos. too many QB's with happy feet and no passing ability or accuracy i should say. a big fat weirdo for a coach etc. and history tells you the eagles are cursed. check it out. 4-12 or 5-11 tops. skins and cowboys and giants have had time to re-structure also.

Or better bet for and win big

Yeah especially vick's right? i mean he's defending his O line thats a horrible ego there, and yeah but the eagles had a better off season than almost any team in the league...u shld prolly bet against the cowboys or the giants b4 u decide to bet against the eagles

You certainly sound like you have some sort of mental handicap, so I'll let you go with your delusional reality. Who knew, opinions are facts, or progression is regression. Snap back to reality, before you can't.

The left side is strong and Vick's blind side is weak, is more like it. Eagles fans' hope is that Danny Watkins is as good as Mudd thinks and that Jamal Jackson gets back to form. Both could happen just as easily as both couldn't.

Vick's going to get pounded like a Marvin Milktoast in prison.
