10:13 AM ET 08.27 | Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is awaiting full reports from concussion specialists he saw recently in Georgia and Michigan, and, once all the information is in, he and the team will plot a course as training camp approaches. The team has said those doctors expect Crosby to fully recover from the concussion that was diagnosed Jan. 6 and sidelined him the rest of last season. Locally, Crosby's health is overseen by team physician Charles Burke and UPMC concussion specialist Dr. Michael Collins. Camp starts Sept. 16. Shero envisions Crosby being back in Pittsburgh and around the team, just as he was for the balance of last season after he got hurt. His participation level has not been determined.

Here's a thought FN. Save yourselves some time a post new articles behind this one everyday.

That way this friggin' story can stay up here forever.

I don't think old Bing himself got this much publicity.

August 27, 2011  10:54 AM ET

Gordie Howe much the same as Sid took a headshot in his early 20s. Gordie skipped seeing multiple specialists, took 600 mg. daily of ibuprofen on an inconsistent basis and continued on to a glorious career.

August 27, 2011  11:04 AM ET

I'm not missing him anyway.

Or maybe they could just use him for the Olympic Men's Hockey Team every 4 years. You don't think the interns would be so silly as to run regular Sid health articles 4 yrs before camps do you?

August 27, 2011  11:33 AM ET

Maybe Sid shouldn't even concern himself with this "training camp" non-sense. It sure doesn't seem to concern his Russian counterpart, Ovechkin!

Back then, a trainer (they didn't need no stinkin' doctors) had four available medications to treat any and all ailments: Aspirin, Absorbine Jr (liniment,) mercurochrome and Canadian Club.

...And ice. Gordie probably got an ice-pack and a few shots of rye.

Sid 'da Kid is pure. The game is far different now than it was 20 years ago. The players are bigger, faster, stronger and a concussion is nothing to minimize.

If he wasn't such a Cocky **** it probably would have never happened, don't get me wrong Sid is (was) a good player - but his cocky attitude and "Its my way or the Highway" attitude brought the attention for the hit. Look at the early careers of Wayne Gretzky - Steve Yzerman - Chris Chelios - Paul Coffey - Nick Lidstrom ??? Phil Housley ??? Alex Ovechkin Ron Francis ??? Mark Messier ??? Brett Hull etc... these were and some still are very talented players and are and were respected by the other players in the league - Never did any of these players and many others I didn't Mention who had raw God given talent to play the game - ever come into the league thinking they were the "Be all - end all" It's unfortunate but hopefully if he returns he will have learned a lesson about being Cocky and use his talent to earn RESPECT not PRESTIGE....... Just Sayin...Congratulations Boston ??? From Hockeytown

you created an account just to post this ridiculous and pointless diatribe? A seriously weak first offering...

Sounds about right. Probably took a few shots of CC before a game on occasion, you know, as a preventive measure.
