Yankees livid over O's rescheduling

10:08 AM ET 08.28 | The Yankees are fighting mad over the way the Orioles handled the weather this weekend. General manager Brian Cashman said his team was left out of the rescheduling arrangements for one of the two games postponed yesterday, which is now scheduled to be played Sept. 8. But the Orioles insist they've done nothing wrong and maintain both Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association approved the Sept. 8 date. The situation has become a he said-he said affair, one that had manager Joe Girardi livid on Friday night. Yankees player representative Curtis Granderson declared the team would dispute the rescheduling and would enlist the MLBPA in the fight.

Agreed. I don't know why the Yankees are surprised here. The obvious answer was to play a doubleheader on Friday, but the problem is that such a last minute adjustment would cut into the Orioles' revenue. The Orioles only draw significant crowds when good teams come to Camden Yards, so they need to make the most of it when the Red Sox and Yankees are in town.

Wait a minute... That was the Yankees LAST day off for the season. Now they'll play 33 games in 32 days till the end of the season.
As far as I can tell, it meant nothing to the Orioles, either way. But they boned the Yankees, just because they could. POOR SPORTSMANSHIP Way to go Buck Showalter & Co. Totally classless move.

Pondy: First, I think you meant to write 'sold' out - strong use of language. Second, stop being such a sympathizer to the whines and cries of that team from up north. Those losers never owned to the blatant bias they were granted in the Jeffrey Maier game. If MLB - to include league executives and umpires as well - can hedge an advantage for the Yankees, they will do so with reckless abandon. The best thing that happened to the league in the last 10 years was the rise of the other evil empire even further northeast. At least now the league and media have an alternate crack to lick every summer night.

Haha! Absolutely amazing. Now that's why I love baseball. Unlike in English football, where just about every coach is from Scotland and used to play for Man Utd, teams in MLB aren't afraid to stick it to the horrible bandwagon team that everybody hates! Buck Showalter, you're my hero.

Here's the thing. The Yankees always get what they want. If it were the other way around, would the Yankees be complaining? Nope. Absolutely not! Buck Showalter and the O's probably didn't even think about it as giving a disadvantage to the Uankees anyway. It was there off-day too remember? And if it was a ploy at trying to get an advantage, good for them, they deserve it. Besides, didn't the Yankees get their so desired off-day anyway? Quit complaining and play baseball, if your so stinking good it shouldnt make a difference.

the yankees don't have the worst schedule left to play. that may well belong to the phillies who must play 33 games in 31 days without a day off. they now have 3 day/night double headers due to rain outs.

Oh whine whine whine. Phils are going to play 33 games in 31 days. And guess what? The players voted to do so. Yankees used to have some class. Should I go fetch mama to wipe your butt for you?

The O's/yanks game is on for today. A sunny but windy afternoon in the mid atlantic region. So, there's only one game to be rescheduled..
