Pay cut or else for Cowboys center

10:11 AM ET 08.28 | Andre Gurode's career with the Cowboys is at a crossroads. Owner Jerry Jones said the Pro Bowl center was held out of Saturday's game against Minnesota so the two sides can discuss business when the team returns to Dallas. The implication is clear: If Gurode wants to remain with the Cowboys, he will need to take a pay cut. If not, the Cowboys are comfortable that they have his replacement in Phil Costa.

and his replacement was injured and Croude "still" didn't play last night...ALL ABOARD!

You want to do what to my pay???

August 28, 2011  10:13 AM ET

Lotta players being nudged out a lot of doors right now.

I wouldn't want to be the one to tell him....

Not sure how good he is. Anybody body else know about this guy? Is he essential to their line right now?

August 28, 2011  10:17 AM ET

What I found interesting last night was that he was helping coach up the kid that played the entire game. This after he was held out pending a "business decision".

Looks like we are going young on the O-Line. This is fine with me. Two points:

- Hudson Houck is going to earn his keep this season;
- Rex Ryan is licking his chops for Week 1...

Morning Otis.

Yeah, he's out for the year, that solved the QB controversy for Backups, there was a lot of injuries last night, Pouncey, Lewis, Hampton, Chavis, most of them they say are minor...

August 28, 2011  10:34 AM ET

He's gone to the Pro Bowl the last five seasons, allowed 2 sacks or less for the last four years. Not sure what he's done wrong to merit a pay cut.

August 28, 2011  10:35 AM ET

Cutting him would save $$ this year but will push another $1.6 mil of dead money into 2012. Better to restructure.

Jerry's bumbling turned this team matter into a national media nugget so now Gurode's pride will be a factor in the decision.

Morning, gentlemen. It's a trifle damp outside in the burbs of Boston.

He could very well end up with a team that's going further than the one he's on. Cutting down the roster is a crisis for some, but an opportunity for others.

August 28, 2011  10:43 AM ET

I'm sure he's the Boys major problem JJ.

Trust me... just because he's gone the last 5 years doesn't means he's earned it the last five years.

This offensive line got old in a hurry. And the truth of the matter is that Costa has earned the starting job this preseason.

I hope he stays... but it isn't the end of the world if he leaves.

Some money is better than no money, Bro.

Isn't that a Beach!

I love it when any team beats the Vikings, even if it is preseason!

Otis...every qb on their schedule is licking their chops to face that dreadful secondary.
