Why Chicago won't show Briggs the money

08:01 AM ET 08.29 | Add linebacker Lance Briggs to the list of Bears seeking a new contract to stay in Chicago, which in the end may mean very little. [Briggs] is not Brian Urlacher, and therein lies the problem in Briggs' quest for another boatload of money from the Bears. ... It doesn't matter why Urlacher is astoundingly popular. It only mattered that he was when he got the Bears to give him an $18 million extension in 2008. ... In 2007, upset with having the franchise tag placed on him, Briggs said he would never play another down for the Bears. He did. A year later, he signed that six-year contract. Now he doesn't like that contract. This time, he might not want to get his hopes up for a new deal. Or he might want to change his name to Urlacher.

Briggs needs to get over himself. Even though he's only playing with a $18 mil extension......loser!!

He should feel pleased he is being paid at all. After the strike the last thing fans want to hear are millionaires grumbling.

Things like this is why this team will not do as well as they did last year!

Looks like he will be playing out this contract and moving on...

And the Bears will wish him well...

why would you agree to such a large contract in the first place in terms of years paid, if you wont like it 3 years later? give me a break. MILLIONAIRES COMPLAIN TOO MUCH!

August 29, 2011  12:32 PM ET

You knew for a fact your play was going to plateau or get better...you slightly increased...so you think you deserve another raise already? just play out your god damn contract, ****, and be lucky if you dont become trade bait in a year.
