Heat to blame for Beltre's hamstring

08:10 AM ET 08.29 | The oven that is the Metroplex weighs heavily on the Texas Rangers. The heat has been so overpowering here over the past two months, with the daily run of temperatures in triple digits, that some of the Rangers' starting pitchers, as well as catcher Mike Napoli, have taken to getting IV fluids before the start of games. ... Adrian Beltre has had hamstring issues in the past, he said on Saturday, as he dressed his 5-year-old son in a Rangers uniform in front of his locker, but not until this year had he actually suffered a major hamstring strain. And he is somewhat convinced that the heat has had something to do with it. So when he returns to the Rangers' lineup sometime in the next week, he intends to be careful, to not go all-out in running the bases.

I thought Beltre was Dominican. Isn't the DR weather just this side of Hades? Stop it with the excuses

They at least get sea-breeze there. Friends of mine in Texas say it's been historically blazing this year. Hell, half the state is on fire.

The Governor did ask everyone to pray for rain in April. Guess that didn't work out so well.

Pure BS, you're going to get strains and sprains when your muscles are tight, not when they are loose. You barely even have to run to get loose in the heat, the guy is just lazy, and I called it, he's not going to be worth the money. And to think they almost traded away their best hitter, Michael Young, for this clown!

You mean that idiot who might end up being the next Pres? That's one way to get him out of Austin.

Um, heat relaxes the muscles- why do you think you use a heating pad on a pulled muscle? Lack of hyradation causes cramps. Nice excuse to dog it.

That is a bunch of ****. If anything the heat, extreme though it can be, would help prevent muscle pulls and strains.

maybe being lazy, but rather injuried-prone player, when he signed with the mariners he did start to get those type of injuries its the heat the reason why he gets injuried? all this cheap talk make none sense, the player its weak and easly gets injured does he do this intentionally? very clearly it seems that way!!

- actually no the DR has typical Caribbean temps mostly in the upper 80's and cools off in the evening with seabreeze here in TX our temps actually Climb after 3P until around 6 so game times this year have been 100 + not including heat index mostly. Sounds like he and the trainers have not properly prepared him for playing in the high temps. Sure yeah those hammy's are a nagging injury but time, proper hydration, stretching, diet and proper rehab resolve that over time. So while aggravating not news...man up play within your boundaries...

the angels learned in the hard way, they may have pitching but they lack in power hitters and all the halos lineup its totally indisciplined, this time they even increase their bad luck by misplaying the balls hit to the outfielders/ infielders, all this against the rangers, just as if it wasn't enough for the angels pitcher, lack of run support, lack of deffense and the angels offense was nowhere to find as always!!!

Sacrifice a virgin? In Rick Perry's Texas, which leads the nation in teen pregnancy? Don't expect Beltran to do the hard work that would take.
