08:20 AM ET 08.29 | Many believe Russia's Nail Yakupov has the inside track on the No. 1 spot in the 2012 NHL draft, but who is most likely to be the first American-born player off the board? Center Alex Galchenyuk (Sarnia, OHL) plays on a line with Yakupov. His father, Alexander, played for Dynamo Moscow from 1985-1992 and then played two seasons with Milwaukee in the International Hockey League. Young Alex was born in Madison, Wis., while his father was playing there. "I played with his dad in Milwaukee, and he was a top two centerman," said USA Hockey assistant executive director Jim Johannson. ... The elder Galchenyuk has apparently helped his son mature into an even better player than he was.
