Gholston bounced out of NFL?

08:05 AM ET 08.30 | Vernon Gholston, who only last week pinned some of his failings with the Jets on his playing time, is again looking for work. Talking to Bears personnel down at training camp earlier this month, I asked around about [Gholston]. The responses were lukewarm at best. ... Saw it myself just watching one-on-one pass rush at practice. Didn't see explosion off the line or a player that was schooled on using his hands at the point of attack. No question he was an athlete (and a NFL combine talent), but knowing football, I didn't see a player that was going to stick in Chicago. There was something, well, missing. And now we should really wonder if Gholston is done -- for good. Think about for a minute. Gholston has now washed out under Rex Ryan and Lovie Smith.

With a name like Vernon, is it a wonder?

Another name to add to the all-time great first round draft busts.

This dude isn't near as good as he THINKS he is!!

I used to pass him on campus quite often and he was a physical BEAST... too bad it hasn't translated at all to the football field. I still think it would have done him a lot of good to stay in school for another year and learn more about the game.

He molest's collies!

Moral of the story - it's better to be a beast between the ears.

Wait, let me get this straight. So, your draft position is NOT a guarantee of future performance on the field? Well, spank my ass and call me Grandma.

So, how are his jersey sales doing?

Not in the Top 10...

Never saw a jersey with Gholston on it unless it was a half price sell....Interesting.

Not quite in the same league as Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell (when Terrelle Pryor told the Raiders he wanted the #2 jersey, they refused because of the bad memories from Russell). Still a major bust.

He's TERRIBLE. Rex was right about him.

Just play hard, be a student of the game and the rest will fall into place. The word lazy comes to mind when I think of this moron.

This is two big-time OSU linebackers in the last decade that laid an egg as a pro.

Change his name to Albert, molest a waitress, threaten a driver you've run into and Hoodie will give him a starting job!
