08:19 AM ET 09.01 | Viktor Stalberg would prefer to get away from the elevator existence he knew in 2010-11. [Stalberg] found himself on the Blackhawks' top lines where he played a finesse game to the fourth line where he banged and battled for pucks along the boards. As training camp looms now, the versatile winger is preparing to stake his claim back at the top. "There are some spots in the top six and there are some spots in the bottom six," said Stalberg. ... "It's good for our team and good for my career that I can play a couple of different roles." Stalberg finished with 12 goals in 77 games last season, but was the most snakebit of all Hawks as several scoring chances resulted in missed opportunities.

Another case of skills without heart. Top 6 on the Hawks Vik-tor?

Actually be traded by the Leafs might be a point in his favor. If the kid wants to work for a top six, then fine, but 12 goals isn't going to cut it.

Stalberg won't make the top 6, but he'll net 20 goals this year. Effort isn't the issue with him.
