Johnson signing makes a mess in Minnesota

08:06 AM ET 09.02 | Beyond the stadium issue, the Vikings now have to worry about Adrian Peterson since Chris Johnson's signing. "Pay the man," was Peterson's advice to the Titans [last week]. Now we know why. And now we know why Peterson was in no hurry to sign a deal before CJ. Johnson and the Titans agreed to a four-year, $53.5 million deal with $30 million guaranteed. Peterson has to be thrilled. The Vikings not so much, although they had to figure this was about the ballpark they'd have to play in to keep Peterson. When the two sides get together and start seriously negotiating, the starting point is going to be $31 million because Peterson is in perpetual competition with Johnson. He hates it when people say or even suggest Johnson is the league's best running back.

As a dallas fan I'm imagining Green Bay WITH the power running game they lack....that is scary. After watching him torment my Longhorns for years I don't want to see him on a contender in the NFC. Raiders might be willing to pay him....

I think there is a store in Dallas that will extend a serious line of credit to professionals....just make sure you pay them eventually.

September 2, 2011  08:45 AM ET

So Tebow looked better than Brady Quinn last night.......just thought I would throw that out there......

eff that
AP's great and all that, but the Packers haven't gotten where they are by over-paying other teams' free agents whose best years may be behind them.
What the success rate of free agent RBs with >5 years starting and >1200 rusing attempts anyway?
