08:10 AM ET 09.02 | Kevin Garnett nearly went from the Land of 10,000 Lakes to the Lakers. [Garnett, on a national radio show, touched on] the possibility of him joining the Lakers as opposed to the Celtics before the 2007 season. Garnett made it clear he absolutely wanted out of Minnesota, but he said turmoil in Los Angeles prevented him from playing there. "I was pretty close to be honest," said Garnett. "What disturbed me about the whole Lakers situation was Kobe and Phil at the time. They were at each other pretty bad, and it was a new situation I didn't want to get into ... It was my choice, yeah. There was a lot going on and I didn't want to be a part of it."

QUOTE(#3):

How was the Lakers suppose to get him? Would they have traded Bynum and Gasol for him? It might not have worked out if they lose those 2 players.

Didnt they just get Gasol at that time? I'm sure they would've traded Bynum.

QUOTE(#2):

I don't blame him. Its easy to look back now and call it an error, but at the time who knew how that would turn out? I wouldn't have been interested in that melodrama either.

Couldn't agree more....

My guess is it worked out best for both in the longrun....kG still got his ring, and Lakers got a decent big man to build around after Kobe. The Lakers would have the same amount of championships they got under Gasol minus another 6-7 years under a relatively young big.He could have went to a few teams and made them champions, but then Paul and Ray might've been stuck out.

The lakers would have to trade away Odom since Bynum was a Nobody at that time. The Lakers would not have won the title that year with Radmanovic starting at SF even though that they had KG's defense
