Regular season in jeopardy for Jurrjens

08:15 AM ET 09.02 | A two-week stint on the DL has reportedly done little to help Jair Jurrjens' sore right knee. [And] now he's planning to travel to Vail, Colo., to get a second opinion from knee specialist Dr. Richard Steadman. Jurrjens was scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Dodgers, but that's doubtful now. The Braves held back Randall Delgado in Triple-A Gwinnett so he can pitch in that spot. They'll still have Julio Teheran available to pitch the second game of the doubleheader in New York on Sept. 8. Jurrjens said his concern now is not finishing the regular season, but being ready for the postseason. This same knee kept him out of the postseason a year ago.

He'll miss the post season like before and the Braves don't have enough to over come that much less probably NOT make the playoffs which is kinda sad because I don't believe many people thought the Braves would have as good a year as they have had.

The Braves have put together a nice year for themselves. I couldn't see them getting passed the Phillies though.

Holy ****. I'm not typically one to harp on grammar, but that sentence reads like a screwdriver in the eye.

Also, pretty much every point you made was wrong.

You never know. At this time last year, no one would have seen the Giants getting past the Braves. Or Phillies. Or Rangers.

The Braves and Phillies' season series is knotted up at 6.

It's a shame about Jurrjens. Kid's got a ton of talent but is just soft. I hope I'm wrong, but it's starting to look like Tommy Hanson is headed down the same path.

Hopefully they can get through their health issues and have productive careers.

The Braves have a big enough lead and enough good arms to make it to the playoffs. After that? Who knows...

Look, the Braves have an 8 1/2 game lead in the WC with less than a month remaining. Put another way, the Braves have 26 games left. If they went 12-14 and just sucked it up, the Cardinals would have to go 21-4 to take the WC. The Giants would have to go 22-3. That's just not happening. That said, Jurrjens would be a loss as Hanson would be. However, with Lowe again making his customary late season push, they still have Lowe, Hanson and Beachy with the possiblity of Delgado, Teheran, Vizcaino or Minor to fill that last slot. They can sort that out over the next month. Beyond that, the Braves have played the Phillies even all year. I'm certainly not conceding anything.
