10:04 AM ET 09.03 | Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe convened a conference call late Friday afternoon with a handful of his conference's presidents to discuss the increasing possibility that Oklahoma wants to bolt the Big 12 for the Pac-12, multiple sources said. Texas president Bill Powers, Oklahoma president David Boren and Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin were excluded from the call, sources said. But Beebe advised the other presidents in the Big 12 to "work on Texas" to get the Longhorns to stay in the Big 12, sources said. It's Beebe's belief that if Texas refuses to go to the Pac-12 that Oklahoma would not get a bid from the Pac-12, sources said. But another source close to the situation said if Oklahoma and Oklahoma State indicated to the Pac-12 that they wanted to be a part of that league, they would be admitted.

Big 12=House of Cards....

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- University of Oklahoma president David Boren says multiple conferences have shown interest in the Sooners recently and he expects to decide whether to leave the Big 12 or not within the next three weeks.

What a way to start the season.

If Beebe was a strong leader we wouldn't be facing any of this. He relies on Dodds and Castligone for his strength ... which is not leadership. I feel for him though having to put up with Tom Osborne's constant media jabs but, again, a strong leader would have found a way to steer the ship through choppy waters.

Seriously, if they come to the SEC, where will the Horns go, west??? Or north to the B1G, that would be different.

A lot of teams will tell you were they can go.....

This is just a rumor to throw everyone off, they actually are coming to the SEC.

Let's just put all college football teams into one big mega conference?

I agree and my concern is Beebe will do whatever he can to keep his job and the b12 alive. It wouldn't surprise me if OU/OSU/TX/Tech all went P12 that he would then add teams to create a version of the old SWC to keep the B12 alive. Suc k conference but Tx wouldn't be in it. If they stayed I'd lose all respect for 'Dodds because it would mean he is putting the LHN over everything else.

Great analysis from Dr and you on this.....question for you, though. Is UTX more interested in being a very big fish in a little pond, or do you guys think they want the competition for a super-conference?

The advantages of the former is more power and an easier road to the NCG in the current environment. UTX is never going to have to worry about $$...that will come where ever they are....what's their #1 motovatiing factor in all the realignment?

Arky moved purely for $$. COC did it for $$ and to flip off the mother ship, colorado and utah did it for money.....what's UTx's motovation?

I agree. TX declined the Pac12 offer in part because Larry Scott wanted schools to relinquish all 3rd tier broadcasting rights and TX was already pregnant with LHN. That, and Larry Scott is a Fox Sports bag man similar to Beebe. TV exposure would still suffer in the P12 just like B12. Not an upgrade by any means.
