Report: Cowher turns down Falcons
Posted: Monday December 17, 2007 06:04AM ET
The Falcons have reportedly missed on their first attempt to fill their vacant head coach position. ESPN.com reported Sunday that Bill Cowher, the former Pittsburgh coach, told the Falcons he was not interested in the job and intended to complete his two-year stint as a studio analyst with CBS. The report cited team and league sources.

Report Offensive Commentokay, next.....what about Marty Schottenheimer? is he coaching anywhere? after yesterday's tail-whippin' by the Bucs, maybe coaching isn't the Falcons' problem.....that game was just awful.

Report Offensive CommentIf Cowher was going to return (and I hope he does) I would pray that it would not be to the Falcons. The Falcons are a mess right now, Petrino has one foot out the door before he ever stepped in it. If I were the Falcon Players, I would seriously consider heading down to Arkansas and suprise Petrino with a Blanket Party (you saw one in Full Metal Jacket) however I might consider swithing from bars of soap stuffed in socks to devices of a more suitable nature, such as nail tipped bats, machetes, maces and flails.

Report Offensive CommentThe players on this team seem to know a lot about coaching. Give it to one of them Art. You just got to stop holding Joey back from being all he can be...

Report Offensive CommentThe man is no fool! Who in their right mind wants that mess to clean up? First a player dirties the place up and then the Booby Petrino debacle. Its gonna take much more than a good coach to make the Falcons become a serious contender. Whoever that Architect is, Atlanta deserves much better. And whoever that person may be, he needs full control and no ownership interference to make it work. Otherwise, Atlanta will continue to be a second rate NFL team.

Report Offensive CommentThis is the first of many coaches to turn down the Falcons job. Denny Green might take Art Blanks money tho ... he did in Arizona.

Report Offensive CommentThe Falcons are a disaster from stem to stern.
I'm sure Cowher considered it though....for about 2 1/2 seconds.
