Why Memphis should worry about losing Gasol

08:12 AM ET 09.05 | Like location in real estate, timing can be just about everything in a free agent money grab. Assuming there ever is an offseason for the 2011-2012 NBA season and not just some huge combined free agency pool for this year and next year, there really isn't a tremendous number of big-name players set to hit the market. Those who do have the name recognition -- Tyson Chandler, Nene, David West, Andrei Kirilenko, Jamal Crawford -- don't really have youth on their side, meaning there are a select few guys in the pool that could actually offer a team immediate and long-term help. That means good things for Memphis center Marc Gasol's wallet, but maybe not good things for the Memphis Grizzlies themselves.

This guy has the potential to become a beast. Teams should be flocking at him. He is like Bynum, just 10 times better and tougher...

Come back to LA, Bro.

And What teams will have FA money to spend ?? ...

NETS, IND, SACR, any others ?

IMO, he's extremely close to being just as good as his brother just because of the consistency he brings with his style of play. Defense, rebounding, tenacity, low post shots.

Come to New York, bro! You'll be the biggest Great White Hope since Gerry Cooney! MILK ME!

I've seen him play and been impressed. I think he's hugely undervalued playing in Memphis. He'd be an excellent pick up for several teams.

Ya its not like the dude has a more then a 20'' vert, and a long wingspan. He's just a tougher, less skilled version of his brother. A good center with potential to be great, if was more athletic his upside would be more appealing to some teams. But the dude is going to get some legit offer fo show.

You have no knowledge whatsoever. Bynum is better that Gasol now and in the future.

The Lakers will find a way to get him. Trust me.

When you say a bag of sox, you seem to forget he was one of the sox in that bag. Apparently, the Lakers did give up something valuable in that trade.
