Georgia Tech may be on the verge of losing its second commitment in the past 10 days. Henry County's Chris Jackson, rated a four-star receiver by Scout.com, plans to choose between Alabama and Tech on Tuesday. Jackson, who originally committed to the Jackets nearly a year ago, admitted Monday evening that the Crimson Tide are now in the picture.

Not surprising. Recievers that committed to Georgia Tech can't be too happy that the current king of the option offense was hired.

Bring him on!

Actually, it's official now. He's signed a letter of intent to play for Bama (he's elegible for early enrollment). Now just add Julio Jones and this is one of the best WR recruiting classes ever.

Roll Tide

that rolls

It is good to see a Bammer fan get so fired up about taking a recruit from Georgia Tech. It is almost a s good as seeing Auburn fans get excited about taking a recruit away from Troy.

We're feeling your love, juan.

Take it from a guy who passed up going to Alabama to go to Tech: it was worth it!

December 18, 2007  02:06 PM ET

If the recruit from Troy were a 4-star prospect and ranked as one of the best recievers in the South, then I'd hope Auburn fans would be fired up too.

And by the way, Georgia Tech is a quality program in a BCS conference. Troy is niether of those things. I don't find the situations all that comparable.

If the recruit were a 4-star prospect, then he would not have been considering Tech. Tech is an average program (at best) in a mediocre conference. It is a fine academic institution so perhaps the prospect was looking to get an education. But no, that is not possible since he chose to go to Alabama.

Typical Alabama.....Ofcourse I think Sabab took Bear Bryant's philosophy of "win their mamas" a bit to the extreme...I doubt he meant kidnap them at knifepoint....use letter of intent for ransom purposes......

December 18, 2007  03:15 PM ET

He's ranked a 4-star prospect by Scout, which is one of the most widely respected recruiting services. And who's to say that he wasn't a Georgia Tech fan growing up, and that's why he initially committed there, but upon Tech hiring an option guru, he know he has no real shot to be a big-time player as a wide reciever in that situation so he started looking elsewhere?

There are any number of reasons a recruit choses a school and then even more as to why he changes his mind.

And you can throw out average and mediocre all you want, a competitive program with pretty decent tradition in a BCS conference is still a huge step above Troy.

SEC is lucky there is a cap on the number of recruits now. Back in Coach Bryant's day, there were no limits. Image what Saban could do if he was allowed to sign 40 every year.

Awesome pick up for the Tide! Julio Jones is the one guy Bama wants. Saban is a great recruiter and has Bama moving in the right direction. Roll Tide!

Good for Nick Saban! Screw ethics! Classy as always.

The NCAA needs to stop bending over for coaches like Saban and actually put some rules in place to prevent them from trying to flip committed recruits.

I don't even like Georgia Tech, btw. I just get tired of Saban's god complex.

bet the 41-17 had to hurt too. don't worry you'll get use to it every year.
