Briggs' trade request OK with teammates

09:01 AM ET 09.06 | As he addressed the media Monday for the first time since requesting a trade last week, linebacker Lance Briggs was asked about the reaction from his Bears teammates. "No one likes to hear or know of somebody from their team wanting to be traded," Briggs said. In the background, team jester Anthony Adams hid behind Briggs and yelled out, "I agree." In reality, no one in the locker room seems to be holding a grudge against the six-time Pro Bowl linebacker for his actions. In fact, two key veterans expressed their support and emphasized it wouldn't be a distraction.

Right, Ole Briggs is a Team player, my butt.

He ain't going anywhere...

Briggs is gonna make the whole year about him until he gets more money or traded. Bottom line.

Briggs is an ****. Three years into a six-year deal, he received nearly $21M of the deal already, and has $14M left in the three years remaining... and he's not happy that he couldn't get a raise? This has Drew Rosenhaus's rat tracks all over it.

For once, I'll side with Jerry Angelo.

It's not a distraction ................ but they are talking about a player's contract, not about the upcoming game against the Falcons.

I'm going go out on a limb and say it's a distraction.

Man...The Eagles really could use a good linebacker. Would Asante for him straight up be a bad idea. He is three times better than eanyone on the team at the linebacker position. Could the bears use a corner?

September 6, 2011  10:48 AM ET

Don't sign a 6 year deal if you're going to be unhappy with it 3 years in! Finish out the contract that YOU signed!

As a matter of fact they could.

That's right!

Please give him to the Raiders for a 5th rounder

Yeah, $14M over 3 years would make me unhappy too, NOT!!!

September 6, 2011  04:32 PM ET

aw..........Too bad you gave all Briggs dough to that useless Peppers guy so no more $$
left for anyone...........Bears going nowhere and fast......

September 6, 2011  04:36 PM ET

Shut up and fulfill your contract you spoiled brat!

September 6, 2011  05:20 PM ET

Briggs won't be traded or given an extension. This is nothing more than his greedy snake of an agent, Drew Rosenhaus, causing his annual drama around Bears camp..

There is money available. But not to players with 3 years remaining on their contract.

And if you watched the Bears play last year you wouldn't be calling Peppers "useless". But hey, why let the truth get in the way of your opinion.

Drew Rosenhaus vs. Jerry Angelo: somewhere Vince McMahon is salivating!
