08:03 AM ET 09.07 | A return to football hasn't put financial trouble behind Dez Bryant. [According] to a source, Bryant's problems won't be completely solved until he earns more money or signs a new contract. Bryant faced two lawsuits in the spring seeking more than $850,000 from the Dallas Cowboys receiver. One of the suits was settled, but one is alive in Tarrant County. In the pending suit, Eleow Hunt, of Colleyville, alleges that Bryant and his adviser, David Wells, owe him about $600,000 for jewelry, sports tickets and repayment of loans. Bryant, beginning his second season, has four years left on a five-year, $11.8 million contract. He earned $2.84 million in 2010 in salary, signing and roster bonuses.

Can this bozo even read a contract?

Obviously not. And that is from his Diamond/gold/bling store owner.

September 7, 2011  08:44 AM ET

Checked gold prices lately? Bling has been doing better than the Dow, S&P or NASDAQ. Mr. Bryant is a canny investor. Warren Buffet consults with him regularly.

Reality: Dude's too stupid to keep his pants up in a mall. What do you expect?

He neither needs more money nor a new contract to get out of this mess. What he needs is a good lawyer who will negotiate a settlement with the last litigant standing. He may need to restructure some debt. He definitely needs to get rid of his so called "advisor" who let him pile up this debt. He may need to jettison some assets to raise money (probably didn't need that third Mercedes anyhow) In short, he needs a "workout". My guess is that whatever lawyers are repping him in this matter are letting things drag out because you can't bill hours if you settle matters quickly. Aint that right all you scumbag barristers out there.

he better be. they have enough issues on the other side of the ball they don't need offensive issues, aside from the o-line. <sigh>

You created a profile to post this?

If you don't like it, report it, and the mods will delete it, and the spammer's account. But, they won't take any serious steps to block spam, like prohibiting posts with URLs, or requiring some sort of registration procedure that discourages robo-spam. Don't know why. I figure somebody is getting an under-the-table payment to allow the spam to continue.

What is it with these football players who think they need new deals within current contracts? Effin losers!! Should go on tv and state my opinion and challenge any one of these lazy players to debate me.

I have two words for you ... DAVID GARRARD!!! Please explain why it is okay for the team to cut him and his $9M contract for this year but it would be wrong to renegotiate that contract had he just gone to the Pro Bowl.

September 7, 2011  09:32 AM ET

Only a moron can be in financial trouble after one year of a multi-million dollar contract. Ok, so we're talking about Dez Bryant so never mind.

Quite possibly! However, people went berserk when Chris Johnson held out because he was underpaid. How can it be alright from one side but not the other? Why the double standard?

The law of sports contracts. In most businesses a contract is a contract and will seldom get changed before it expires. In sports some players overperform, some underperform. Sometimes those that overperform get theirs renegotiated, those that underperform end up looking for a new team.
